EDIT DUE TO NINJAS: It's definitely a tear-jerker idea, but I don't know if there's a whole story to make out of it. Just lots of vignettes of Elan and friends doing their thing with sad looking Therkla floating nearby?

Right. Not much potential for humour, or really even dramatic tension there.
I would hope Therkla's afterlife is a little less dreary than that.
