Re: Magic the Gathering - You Make the Card!
Design process
Spoiler
Ideas:
A dragon knight
A hafling cook
A vampire mansion
A graveyard of endless dead
I went with the cook.
Reseach:
Well it turns out there does not exist halflings in magic.
But there are a lot of other small creatures:
Kithkin
Kobold
Goblin
Faerie
Dwarf
Gnome
Gremlins
Imp
Those are the possible creature types for my card. I want him to be a peacefull little guy who hands out food to his comrades, i will make a quick seach for each type on the gatherer to eliminate those that doesn't fit with this.
Kithkin:
A quick search gave me the impression of them being more warriors and soldiers, they might still work but i think i will check out the other options.
Kobold:
Red, not very nice, doesn't work.
Goblin:
Much the same as the kobolds, and while there are green goblins, they just doesn't seem to fit.
Faerie:
They seem nicer, and one of them is a leprechaun, i like the idea of him being a leprechaun.
Dwarf:
Seem to be red, only ones that aren't are black and vampires or zombies or a wierd wizard guy.
Gnome:
Appereantly gnomes are artifact creatures.
Gremlin:
There are only 2 gremlin cards, both black. Next!
Imp:
Too evil, only one isn't black or red, it is blue, and is about drawing and discarding cards.
Looks like it is going to be a leprechaun or an other kind of faerie.
Mechanics:
Ideas:
-Heal cards
-Buff cards
-Use mana to activate
-Sacrifice creature to activate
-Exile in graveyard to activate
-Defender
-Can't attack or block
I am not sure about wether i should give it defender or make it unable to attack and block, i think i will just stick with defender.
I also know i do not want just to use mana.
Cards:

Dave the cooking leprechaun#4
2GG

Dave the cooking leprechaun#5
G

0/1
Defender
TR: Sacrifice a beast, wolf, hound, or rabbit, place 0/+1 counters on creatures you control equal to toughness of sacrificed creature.
Evaluation of cards:
Dave the cooking leprechaun#1
1GG
Creature
0/1
Defender
T: Sacrifice a beast, wolf, hound, or rabbit, regenerate creatures equal to sacrifices creatures toughness.
I am not sure about regenerating, food that rescues from death seems silly.
Dave the cooking leprechaun#2
1G
Creature
0/1
Defender
RT: Sacrifice a beast, wolf, hound, or rabbit, regenerate creatures equal to sacrifices creatures toughness.
Same
Dave the cooking leprechaun#3
GG
Creature
0/1
Defender
T: Exile a beast, wolf, hound, or rabbit from your graveyard, regenerate target creature.
I do not like the idea of him exiling, he slaughters an animal for his big meal, he doesn't find a carcas.
Dave the cooking leprechaun#4
2GG
Creature
0/2
Defender
T: Sacrifice a beast, wolf, hound, or rabbit, place +1/+1 counters on creatures you control equal to toughness of sacrificed creature.
I like this more, i like the idea of him feeding them up, big and strong.
Dave the cooking leprechaun#5
G
Creature
0/1
Defender
TR: Sacrifice a beast, wolf, hound, or rabbit, place +0/+1 counters on creatures you control equal to toughness of sacrificed creature.
This one uses a red mana for his activition to represent the preperation of the meal. I like the idea of him fattening them up, which doesn't make them hit harder but makes them tougher. I think i will go with this one.
Final:
Dave the cooking leprechaun
G
Creature
0/1
Defender
TR: Sacrifice a beast, wolf, hound, or rabbit, place X +0/+1 counters on creatures you control, where X is toughness of sacrificed creature, divided as you choose.
I changed the wording a bit, otherwise same card.
Dave the cooking leprechaun
G
Creature- Faerie
0/1
Defender
TR: Sacrifice a non-artifact boar, bear, wolf, hound, or rabbit, place X +0/+1 counters on creatures you control, where X is toughness of sacrificed creature, divided as you choose. Use this ability only anytime you could use a sorcery.
Edit: added faerie to type, removed beast and added boar and bear, and added non-artifact.
Edit2: added ''Use this ability only anytime you could use a sorcery.'' to prevent it from being abbused.
