I think it should purr or trill adorably, like tribbles. I don't think they should seem to eat anything. Why eat when you can survive off of the law of cuteness proximity?
And while I'm not against them being arthropods, it's harder to get a good cute creature.
And if they inflate/deflate, it should make a loud "MEEP!" sound. Obviously.
