The sliver does pursue, sensing a weakness in its meal after the two wounds it inflicted. However, Mimi can see that its jaw is hanging loose. Apparently her wrenching removal of the spear struck a nerve.
It keeps pace with her flight, surprisingly quick with its movements even after a double dose of that poison. If she were to put on some more speed though, she'd swiftly outpace it.
