Backstory
Spoiler
The young girl Cho was mothered by a courtesan of Ilankai, and assumed to be sired by a foreign tourist due to her sky-blue eyes. She was quickly put up for adoption, but due to the heavy emphasis of Tengese culture on family values few orphans have hope for a meaningful or even reasonably long life. However, her one saving grace was that orphans were screened for the potential of the Dragon's blood, and against all odds the girl tested positive.
The girl's father then became the military, and her mother the government. She was trained to fight and served, and demonstrated early on a talent in the use of the standard Terrestrial combat technique: Elemental Bolt Attack. Coupled with a favorable affinity for infiltration, and it became apparent that her future was with Branch Seven of the Putaoshu.
It wasn't until the Night Wind turned 17 that she got the feeling that something was off with her assignments. She felt as though the potential of Branch Seven was being squandered, with too much focus on hunting gods and conspiracy theorists and too little on the actual threats to An-Teng. She knew better than to question her superiors, but she began to go above and beyond to make sure she had as much "forward intelligence" as possible before carrying out missions.
One day, her caution and curiousity both paid off and cost her everything. While scouting out the compound of a recluse who was investigating Dragon-Blood training programs, she observed a foreign man in bright green clothing approaching the cabin. Uncertain as to the goal of the stranger, Cho took up a position just outside the entrance that the foreigner had passed through and felt the air inside.
Her target, the recluse, slept. The foreigner accessed her mark's computer, and for a while did little more than empty out the data. A coverup? It mattered little, as the typing was loud and the recluse was a light sleeper. He pulled a gun out from under his pillow and fired... And the bullet was blocked with a sword too large and too swiftly wielded to be anything other than a daiklave.
The next moment was when Cho's world truly fell apart. In an instant, she felt that there were suddenly five men in the room instead of two, all but one with daiklaves swinging at the lone gunman... And then there was one, standing over a butchered corpse. The foreigner- no, the Exalt then made a call on a cell phone, speaking to some handler in Old Realm about the complication, and how Cho should be dealt with when she arrived.
In Cho's mind, it was clear evidence of foreign influence infiltrating the Putaoshu. With his use of Old Realm and strange powers, he was likely an agent of the gods themselves, trying to seize control of Creation from humanity by working in the shadows. Cho silently made her exit from the scene, deciding that it would not be safe anymore to serve her country from within.
With her abilities, it was surprisingly easy for Cho to slip out of An-Teng. She decided to make her exit to Meruvia, as the central location of the nation put it furthest from the edges of the world that the gods clawed in from. She contacted the Office of Meruvian Intelligence, and explained that she had left her country due to suspicion that the gods had subverted its governance.
While many were excited about implicating An-Teng with such scandal, cooler heads pointed out that Cho was acting out of love of her country, and would not use her knowledge to lash out at it. More practically, though, doing so would reveal that the OMI knew about the conspiracy influencing An-Teng.
It was eventually decided that Cho would be an independant operator who was closely monitored: Too valuable to discard, but not loyal enough to be trusted with anything unless it also helped An-Teng. She became a seeker of conspiracies herself after a fashion, and thus was eventually drawn to help against the terrorists of Crane Bay.
Personality
Cho is, like all Air Aspects, a calm and calculating thinker. Her adolescence and early adulthood spent as a career killer have made her detached and undiplomatic in her efficiency, but her emotional distance is lessened somewhat by idealistic patriotism and a desire to better the world for her people. Such feelings, however, may be an effort to create symbolic substitutes for the family she never personally had.
Appearance
Night Wind Cho is a lean, athletic woman of clear Tengese ancestry, save perhaps for slightly paler skin and sky blue eyes resultant from her Aspect. her hair is jet black, short and smooth beneath her artifact helmet, and her posture suggests that her every motion is practiced and premeditated. When wearing her night suit, her only distinctive features are blue metal bracers, the band of the same material lining her helmet, and her eyes gazing out from the frame made by her helm, her hair, and her collar-mask.
