That's more-or-less what having someone in a particular quadrant
at all means, unless there's quadrant vacillation going on, as I understood it. Troll relationships serve partially to stabilise society, so breaking up with someone is probably rarer (at least among adults) than in humans. In their adolescence, before they're expected to be filling pails, it's probably not nearly so permanent - as has been seen in-comic - but if adult trolls were changing through anything other than pre-planned flips it would have an effect on far more than just their own relationships. In a violent, angry race whose preventative measure for massive in-fighting just collapsed, that would be catastrophic.
