Moroe's hesitant rapping on the glass does, in fact, provoke a response: the person sitting on the ground stops rocking, and after a second's pause, dives underneath the bed, still wrapped in their protective blanket cocoon. It is clear, however, as they huddle underneath the bed and Moroe gets a slightly better look at them, that whoever this person is, they are not Shiki: they are far to large to be the diminutive girl.

As she turns away, Moroe does spot a flat grille underneath the observation window, flanked by a dull grey button and an audio jack. A small red light blinks lazily underneath the button.
