Last I heard, Mertes's default action in a combat is (sustain, pressing strike if enemies close, howling charge if enemies are farther away).

Shadow_elf, Alessa's move action will be resolved on her initiatve count, which hasn't come up yet.

The waterfall squares would normally be difficult terrain, so the aquatic ability is relevant.
