Really, it can't be considered being stabbed in the back when you knew it was coming since halfway through the game.
Anyways, blessing Reinholdt and giving Castaras a chance to change my mind either gave Castaras a reason to side with me instead or leveled the playing-field enough to make things interesting to watch.
