As for Naymark looking evil, well, he WAS a bloodthirsty maniac who, when he heard a peace treaty had been signed, attacked anyway, then led his troops on a bloody march against his own government.
Don't believe the directorate's Lies! Naymark was a heroic freedom fighter who refused to let the Directorate leave his fellow soldiers to rot in Radian prisons, and then tried to overthrow them and re-establish the republic.
Of course, that depends on who you ask.
