Like it says in the OP, you don't need to be discouraged by that. "Old-school cred" is only really needed for dredging up material from 2e and critiquing contributions--one of the reasons for the project is the
lack of celestial material, so feel free to make up fluff for things to your heart's content. Stats, of course, can be done without much fluff knowledge at all; you make the archon, Planescape buffs will make the fluff.
