The one time I tried to make prepackaged mac'n'cheese (primitive for your family) I added the cheese at the wrong time, I think? It ended up really weird.Also I am sorry for your cheese mishap. I guess these things happen. My sister and I once blew up a casserole dish trying to make brownies.
That was the only real food mishap I can think of here.
