Speaking of, through the trees one can get a glimpse of a monster, a giant fuzzy myriapod of some sort, hundreds of feet long, which seems to have been charging headlong towards the town. But now it's stopped, and its vast, bizarelly human eyes fix on Tier, and it turns and starts to scuttle away.

The hunter on the ground (well, once he lands), gets out of there. He makes a real jump, not the little bunny hop of before, and springs up to the roof of what's left of Hunter's house. He shoots once at the decoy at the apex of his arc, and yes, his camouflage fades away somehow. He's running along the roof, now creaking under his weight (thanks to the damage the building's already sustained, heading away from Johnson's little hill and in the direction of the edge of town.
Johnson picks up his weapons and leaves.
