I was really kinda hoping that Crowley and Aziraphale would survive their executions by the former having become just a bit angelic and the latter having become just a bit demonic, kinda like they allude to at the final meal. But the swap was alright too I guess. Also, weren't we shown that hellfire can discorporate demons in the show? Why does Crowley not have any issue standing in it? And why are the angels scared of it, since Hastur quite clearly survived his encounter with it?

Discorporate still has them existing. Aziraphale gets discorporated, for example, but just goes right back to heaven. Holy water does not discorporate, it destroys, and it's implied hellfire destroys angels similarly, while hellfire affects demons as well as holy water affects angels. Which is to say, not at all.
