    Default Crystal Legacy Chapter 1

It's a scenec view in the green fields. Rolling hills, daisies swaying in the breeze, the small of mead from the taverns burning down to the ground, and the foot prints of about 1 trillion goblins, kobolds, orcs, and every other oppressed monstrous race.

The party chasing these tracks don't get far before battle music starts to play and they are asked to make initiative rolls.

Damn. Accidentally posted on recruiting site. Oh, well, waste of a great natural 20 and initiative roll.

    Dolminit's Initiative: (1d20+2)[4]

You know, I always thought of the embryonic sac as a sort of a bag of holding that contains magic. And you know, it is inside a porta- whoa! Sorry about that! That was the sailor in me.

And so the four of six mighty warriors appeared, causing a great rift in the multiverse as all the encounters were reduced by one third.

Two orc barabarians are charging the party. They are going to attack Lostsole's character, because apperently their commander is a feminist.

Can we show some ACs, current HPs, and any other relavant combat stuff in posts from now one please? Also, when posting combat actions, please include out to about 5 rounds ahead.

"Bring it on, you ugly sons of sows!" Dolminit shouts once it comes around to his intiative and the long-term initial shock of having a 4 initiative ends.

[OOC: What are they wearing, wielding? Their equipment helps to define my response. Base stats: AC 15 [flat-footed 13], hp 10.

Actual action, beyond free vocals, I'm sorry neoseph is going to depend heavily on what has happened with the battle by that point. I am flat-footed, so other than my FF AC above, I am in a world of trouble. As a cleric, however, in the end it will be better to lose initiative some of the time as it is my character's purpose to respond to casualties and injuries.

I do not wish to post several rounds of possible actions when what I do is based on what else is happening. I post often enough that my keeping up shouldn't be too bad of a problem.]

The enemies are wearing hide armor and are equipped with small wooden shields and tridents.

Their first round goes something like this:

So much for the rest of Dolminit's actions. The barabarians are going to focus their attacks on the next one closest. If anyone beat them for initiative and moved up to them for melee, you get an attack of opportunity for them leaving your threatened zone to fight Dolminit.

    AC 14 HP11

    Damage if necessary (1d8)[4]

Next round she attacks the same orc with her rapier (1d20+4)[23] draws her dagger in her off hand and attacks with that (1d20+2)[21]

    Damage again (1d8)[8] (1d4)[4]

You know, it just got incredibly easy to post my intended actions, all of a sudden ...

End Round 1, stabilization check: (1d100)[23]
End Round 2, stabilization check: (1d100)[60]
End Round 3, stabilization check: (1d100)[78]
End Round 4, stabilization check: (1d100)[75]
End Round 5, stabilization check: (1d100)[58]

EDIT: Yup, I fall with -4 hit points. By the end of the fifth round, I am at -9 hit points and at Death's Door. Meanwhile, Dolminit's spirit body is jumping up and down and yelling (and no one can hear): "Blistering blue barnacles, you damn fools, somebody stabilize me!" He pauses, and his spirit self looks at the reader and says: "Hell hath no fury like women's rights scorned!"

Initiative reroll vs Iota, to determine which of us acts first: (1d20+1)[21]

Also, how are we going to handle character position and suchforth for area of effects? I want to be careful not to hit Terpsichore or Dolminit.

Tentative plan of action, in case I beat Iota, or my actions if you simply want to handle it in order of posting:

    Round 1:
Cast Magic Missile at Orc not currently under attack by Terpsichore.
    Spell Fail: (1d100)[14].
    Damage: (1d4+1)[2].
    Recharge Time: (1d6+1)[7] rounds.
Move into range to attack with Ranseur.

Round 2: Assuming Orc still alive:
If necessary, take a 5-foot step away from Orc, then attack with Ranseur.
    To Hit: (1d20+3)[22]
    Damage: (2d4+3)[11]

Both Orcs will most likely be dead by now, but if not:

Round 3: Same as Round 2.
    To Hit: (1d20+3)[19]
    Damage: (2d4+3)[6]

Round 4: If no-one else had attempted aid on Dolminit:
    Move to Dolminit.
    Attempt Heal check to stabilize
    Heal Check: (1d20)[13]

    Vitals:

    HP: 13 AC: 13

Iota's Init reroll vs. Kerlian: (1d20+1)[13]
(Sable will delay until immediately after Iota.)

    Iota's HP: 8/8, AC 12 (FF & Touch 11)
    Sable's HP: 20/20, AC 14 (FF & Touch 12)

    <Translated from Druidic:>
    <Rip 'em to shreds, Sable!>

The multiverse's timeline twists and branches as Iota begins to rapidly make decisions based on the answer to a simple but as-yet-unanswered question. The multiverse's timeline begins to snap back into its "normal," "straight-line" state. For varying definitions of "normal" and "straight-line." Your results may vary; multiversal timeline may exist on a non-Euclidean plane.

R1: As a free action, order Sable to attack the closest enemy. (I have +9 against the DC 10 Handle Animal check, so it succeeds on a 1.) After that, what I do depends pretty strongly on if we have magic or not, since I haven't seen an indication either way. (It'd be nice to know this ahead of time in the future, of course. )

    If so:
    Spoiler
    Show
R1: Cast Bane as a standard action. (If the Orcs fail a DC 15 Will save (against fear), they get -1 to attack rolls and saving throws against fear for the next 10 rounds.)
    Clr 1 recharge: (1d6+1)[4]

R2: Assuming I can get close enough to Dolminit to poke him with a heal without dying to AoOs, I cast Cure Minor Wounds on him. +1 HP, stabilize.
    Clr 0 recharge: (1d6+1)[2]

R3: Cast Produce Flame, move so there's someone (preferably Sable) between myself and the Orcs, preferably without moving through AoO range.
    Drd 1 recharge: (1d6+1)[2]

R4: Throw the flame at the nearest Orc.
    Ranged touch attack: (1d20+1)[17]
    Damage: (1d6+1)[7]

R5: If my Clr 1 spells have recharged, drop another Bane on them. (Fear effects stack with other fear effects. And the SRD's page explaining the recharge system seems to contradict itself on whether a 4-round recharge means "disabled for 4 full rounds after casting" or "re-enabled at the start of the 4th full round after casting." Re-casting Bane now uses the latter reading, the next sentence uses the former. )
If not, shoot the closest one with my crossbow, then reload it.
    Attack: (1d20+1)[9] Damage: (1d6)[5]

    If not:
    Spoiler
    Show
R1: Shoot them with the crossbow. And reload.
    Attack: (1d20+1)[16] Damage: (1d6)[6]

R2: Move to Dolminit, attempt First Aid.
    Heal vs DC15: (1d20+12)[24]

R3+: If First Aid failed, reattempt until it works. After that, Resume shooting/reloading.
    Possible Heal check R3: (1d20+12)[30]
    R4: (1d20+12)[13]
    R5: (1d20+12)[14]

    Possible Attack R3: (1d20+1)[20] Damage: (1d6)[1]
    R4: (1d20+1)[8] Damage: (1d6)[3]
    R5: (1d20+1)[5] Damage: (1d6)[5]

Either way, Sable just tears into the Orcs. If any of these attacks hit, she immediately gets to try tripping the Orc/s so they fall prone (and they aren't allowed to trip her back or AoO her when she does this). If possible, she uses a combination of her 50-foot-per-round movement rate and 5-foot steps to get into flanking positions.
    ... *SNARL*
    Bite attacks:
    Spoiler
    Show
    R1: Attack: (1d20+3)[13] Damage: (1d6+1)[6]
    R2: Attack: (1d20+3)[17] Damage: (1d6+1)[5]
    R3: Attack: (1d20+3)[21] Damage: (1d6+1)[5]
    R4: Attack: (1d20+3)[7] Damage: (1d6+1)[4]
    R5: Attack: (1d20+3)[8] Damage: (1d6+1)[4]

Trip attempts for any bites that hit (Orcs get opposed Str or Dex checks to avoid this, whichever has the higher modifier):

And oh hey. The no-magic R3 attack roll hit the threat range. Lucky me, I suppose. Threat roll, then, since you can't edit rolls into posts (and that previous post has 35 rolls already ): (1d20+1)[20]

As the orc spirits from any possibly downed orcs raise up above their bodies, we stare just kinda' blankly. I then begin to feel funny, as Iota stabilizes me. The orc spirits (again, if any) look at me pathetically as they wish to be where I am ... "Later, suckers! Enjoy your deserved and tortured afterlife!"

    edit:

The forum roller is never cursed for the DM... Mwah ha ha ha

The party hears in the background as they approach the forest. You guys are able to make it into the forest and heal before the next encounter, which I will describe later.

Area effects and battle placement are whatever is most convienient to the players, as long as it still makes sense. I assume people can move to flank and take the right positions for maximum effect. I also assume the the enemies tend to group together and that spells like fireball can be cast above them to hit only them. This helps make up the for the whole "The DM just rolled 3 crits in a row. With Longbows (X3)" thing. Cause it will happen.

I should have posted in this thread (and not just in the recruitment thread) that this was a no magiczone. I apologize for that. If you guys think I screwed something up, don't hesitate to make knowledge(DMing) checks. If it isn't appropriate for the thread, just PM me if you think I erred.

I'm going to draw up a map of the Forest Which must not be Entered, Refered to, or called Feminine Names, which the party picked up en route from the city folk they passed by or from the corpses of the goblin barbarians.

The whole party recieves 225XP (each) and after the bodies poof into nothingness, a treasure chest appears with 400GP and an empty backpack.

Erm... how are we going to get to the forest with the party's Clerics both unconscious? Furthermore, assuming we GET into a magical zone, we'd still need a potion of CLW or two, or there will won't be any "healing before the next encounter." (At our level, nonmagical healing is at the rate of 1-2 per day, depending on if we have someone actively taking care of us. Magical healing, however, is at the rate of roughly 10 per minute per caster.)

Drag the clerics back to the city walls and pay a cleric for a casting of clw. What are the odds of two characters being unable to roll a 14 or better on a d20 7 times? Iota is able to stabalize with assitance from the rest of the party.
