The Gauntlet [#2, Company Men, Attempt 1, IC]
The pungent stench of mildew emanates from the wet dungeon walls... Wait, no... scratch that.
The infamous home of an artificer had been well hidden behind an endless sea of ingenious traps, eldritch constructs, and clever natural masks of stone erected to hide the entrance. It took many scholars researching endless tomes for a mere hint at the location of the simple home. Now that our intrepid heroes had found the lair of a genius could they pass through the hallowed halls and live to see the light of another day?
Once they pass through the gap in the rock wall easily large enough for each to pass through one at a time it rumbles for a moment and slides closed. Lights in the room flicker on and a soft mechanical voice that could be described as female echoes, "Welcome home, Locke."
The room is rather large, at least fifty feet square with various rusted and useless devices on workbenches lining the walls. The far end of the room sports a large portcullis behind which a darkened room awaits.Never can find my towel...Forgot who did my avatar, sorry! >.<

Re: The Gauntlet [#2, Company Men, Attempt 1, IC]
It seems that the last one to enter the room is that final straw that broke the camel's back. Divitiacus had thought he heard a voice but could not determine if it were an actual sound or merely an echo from the voice welcoming Locke home. He also had a single moment to notice that the workbenches that lined the walls did not seem supported by the ground. This insight became moot, however, as the ground fell out from under those present.
SpoilerEveryone make two reflex saves, even those with flight capability. I will be factoring in flight capability and Divitiacus's realization into this myself after the fact. If anyone besides Glair has flight capability and I missed it, please let me know. If you have a means by which to reduce falling damage, now would be the opportune moment to employ it.Never can find my towel...Forgot who did my avatar, sorry! >.<

Re: The Gauntlet [#2, Company Men, Attempt 1, IC]
It seems that Glair and Diderot's psicrystal are able to shift in the air as the floor drops out from under the party. The mage catches himself and remains exactly where he was while the psicrystal falls for a moment as Diderot tumbles clumsily towards oblivion. The psion slams into a platform waiting below and wrenches his neck before he bounces off and is thrown down into the water waiting below. The druid and his tiger suffer a similar fate, but they manage to land nearly on their feet before their momentum also carries them off the platform. The insane priest seems to have a moment of clarity in which he lands upon the platform with a resounding crack but he does not tumble into the water.
SpoilerDiderot: Slams for 33, falls into water. Currently 30ft down, taking 1 nonlethal damage.
Psicrystal: Flies.
Druid: Slams for 25, falls into water
Tiger: Slams for 25, falls into water
Maddy: Lands for 25, does not fall into water.
Glair: Flies.
I need to consult my notes about the second half of this room as I do not currently have them available but you may make reactionary perception checks here if you chose.
And yes, I only rolled once for all of ye because no one decided to make a tumble check or employ other means of reducing falling damage.Last edited by Tacitus; 2008-12-28 at 08:20 PM.

Re: The Gauntlet [#2, Company Men, Attempt 1, IC]
As everyone attempts to get their bearings they come to notice that the entire room is darkened to a point where the humans are unable to see very far. Up above Glair thinks he notices a canoe floating upon the waters and floating in the water Divitiacus is sure that he saw a glimmer of light before a stiffness coursed through his body for but a single moment. The sound of churning water is clear to all, indicating that being in the water is probably a very bad idea.
Indeed, this is only verified as the tiger is pulled further underwater.
SpoilerInitiative please!
Tiger takes 15, 15, and 13 damage and is currently grappled. Fort save for the tiger please.
The tiger is currently 60ft down. The only one that has sight range on it is Diderot unless he tries to surface.Never can find my towel...Forgot who did my avatar, sorry! >.<

Re: The Gauntlet [#2, Company Men, Attempt 1, IC]
The water stops churning but no further blood fills the water. Instead there is a sudden halt in the Tiger's empathic link with its master before what seems to be a cloud of dirt obscures the creature from sight.
