Re: ABR Discussion Thread XVI: Matters of Futures Imperfect
Salmon comes from a future in which the Resistance failed (it will unless Salmon or any other time traveller does anything to prevent that) and the Sovice finally took control of Avbaroy and slaughtered countless millions, then left the planet to die. At least, that's the most logical interpretation of the events.
Now that's one fine example of goodthink !Last edited by Mad Mask; 2009-01-03 at 06:57 PM.

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XVI: Matters of Futures Imperfect
Meh. Evil superpowered techno robots conquering the world are overrated.
Also, guys, I'm gonna be changing my character look a bit. For one thing, I'm danged sick of drawing that eyepatch. I can't figure out how to draw it without looking mad. Could anyone help me out? I can't find a way to not draw the eyepatch but still make it obvious that he isn't just a weird cyclops thing.Last edited by The Gremlin; 2009-01-03 at 07:07 PM.

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XVI: Matters of Futures Imperfect
Yes, but these are only a faction of the Sovice. The Sovice are mechanical entities composed of countless nanites. They come in two main factions: the Holy Sovice Militia (the ones who reside in Avbaroy and founded the UNA) and the New Sovice Empire (the ones in the space whales).

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XVI: Matters of Futures Imperfect
either would screw up the world if unstopped. The shades however would screw it up much harder
Also let's not forget, he can't stop the UNA anyhow, since it would create a paradox to do so. If he prevents what he saw in the future, then he won't see it in the future and thus wouldnt have the knowledge he'd need to decide to prevent it.Last edited by Threeshades; 2009-01-03 at 07:38 PM.

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XVI: Matters of Futures Imperfect
Yeah, kPenguin (muahahaha!) is right. But I think they want to deal with the Shades once and for all, because, who knows? The reason why the Resistance failed in the future is quite possibly because The Shades were nipping at their heels the whole time.
Except one thing: The armies of the Shades are going to go into a battle against the UNA (doesn't anyone remember that?)and they are going to lose. They are battling around the same time taht the Good Guys vs. Shades fight.
Of course, right now Rand is fighting the armies, soooo.....
HUH?!
But teh UNA is much more powerful than the Shades. They have Steam-powered weaponry, many varieties of landfish warriors (from tough Giant Salmon to quick Little Trout)and those from Blauport. Not to mention the Pikalites, who have excellent weaponry, and the elves and kobolds.Last edited by The Gremlin; 2009-01-03 at 07:45 PM.

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XVI: Matters of Futures Imperfect
The Sovices are detailed pretty completely on the Wiki.
As Mask has said, there are two factions of Sovice, because they're in the midst of a civil war. Maeter, Lying, and the folks in the whales are with the New Sovice Empire. Ins, the UNA, and his friends are with of the Holy Sovice Militia.
As Maeter said, Ins has ingrained his allies in the politics of Avbaroy so the NSE can't, in good conscience, just remove them and leave. The NSE is more about diplomacy, trading, and pragmatism, the HSM is mainly religious fanatacism, to be brief.
If you really think about it, Maeter isn't attacking immediately because doing so would basically result in Iraq in modern times. Wierd that, didn't think of it when I was making it.Last edited by Lyinginbedmon; 2009-01-03 at 07:41 PM.
