Josh simply stood in silence for several long moments, his gaze never leaving Ilja. Finally, he sighed. "God does everything for a reason. I may not be able to help too much, but I believe that I'm being told to accompany you. I hope you wouldn't mind. For now... do you need an escort back to your home, miss Ilja?"

Ilja shifted a bit, pale cheeks reddening slightly. "Well, er---yes please, if it's not too much to ask."

Seeing Ilja's reaction to Josua's suggestion, he would have grinned and raised his eyebrows except, you know, he didn't have any such facial features.

That's so cute!

That aside, I think I will go to the academy. My dingy hovel is a decrepid shack and any excuse to get away from it is fine with me.

Joshua turns to Morte, pulling his notebook out of his backpack and scribbling down his address. "I can be found here, if you need me." He pulls the page out of the notebook and hands it to Morte.

He turns to Ilja. "Alright - do you wish to linger or head out now? I doubt that these fine gentlemen require our attention any longer..."

"A'ight. Let's go. I'll probably go to the Academy tomorrow, brush up on some stuff."

Josh steps out, slinging his backpack back upon his shoulder. "Probably a good idea - I may do that myself, if I'm not painting. Sooooo... what area do you live in, then?"

"Pretty close, just a few streets down." Ilja fidgets with her hands, her mind even louder and more chaotic than usual.

You know, I'm getting a very bad feeling about this. However....I'm willing to go, with a few conditions. Namely, I take my computer, and I get a week with a fully stocked engineering and manufacturing lab before we go.

Josh smiles warmly at Ilja. "Alright, then. I think I know the area you're talking about..." He begins to stride down the street, long legs slowly striding so Ilja can keep up.

"So... you mentioned Iceland and an asylum? Where are you from, Ilja?"

She's 15, so I'll go by the assumption that he's being fatherly/big-brotherly. And she's not used to the kind attentions of good-lookin' dudes of any age, so she's not really sure how to react.

"Weeeell, I was born in Iceland. Hence the nonstandard name. And I was in an orphanage, dunno how I got there. Some reason or another, I was sent to the loony-bin before I was 12. But it was nice there. There were soft walls and interesting research people and pretty nurses and... well, the other crazies didn't seem to like me that much. I guess I just made them all jittery. That was before I realized my... uh... something. Talents. Now I can rein in that sorta field of disorder I have. Mostly."
Looking askance at him, she goes on.
"What about you?"

I think I might go to the academy-thing. Any courses on explosives? They're just as fun as fires, or can be. And I don't mean that as a wrongly accused and prosecuted arsonist. Will's head has stopped smoking, at least for now. The match has dissappeared, either burnt to nothing or he put it into a hidden pocket in his pocket-less clothing.

I am planning on Will (if the occasion arises) to be able to use fire-related attacks etc. using matches (such as lighting a match, throwing it and it exploding), but since his powers are over fire, he can't practice safely in most places. Basically, he doesn't know all of his powers.

Ilja might practice by setting up a stack or something of old cans, then willing them to violently collapse. Then she'd try with something heavier. And so on.

Josh chuckles. "Hey, Ilji's really a nice name - it is! Scotland born and bred, myself. Ruined me life, got recruited for the DTECC, decided to actually do something with life. Painting's good - I like painting. So - what are your talents, Ilji?"

"I'm little miss Chaos, really. I can make disorder where there's order---see that stack of old firewood that nobody's touched in God-knows-how-long?"
She flicks her hand out as if there is a whip at the end of her fingers; the pile of logs topples and scatters.
"I can also put chaos in people's heads. Confusion, anxiety, even panic if I have to."

Seeing that others were also planning on going to the academy now, he slowed down to wait for them. If he was going to work with them, he might as well get to know them.

"By the way, if we should work together, best to introduce myself, I am professor Elim Melchett (phd) of the physics department of the DTECC."

At the academy Yoshi will refresh his martial arts. Ninjitsu if able. Other then that he will mediate to make his blades stronger and sharper

Will caught up with Elim. Hello Elim. My name's William Rife, but please, call me Will. Will extends his hand to shake Elim's. If shook, it will feel slightly warm. I can create fire. What is it that you can do, Elim? Will's got a match out and is juggling it. At the height of its ark, it starts burning.

Will can't do that. If he starts practising his control of fire and something goes wrong, people are more likely to die than with some of the other abilities people have. He does occasionally find a tree/bush to practice fire starting (and because he's a pyromaniac) Will is looking for a course on guns, as they are useful and because explosives thrown randomly in a gun fight are dangerous to everybody, but he's looking for a course on explosives too.

Embarassed, James answered:

"Well, I've got some great knowledge of physics and science.... Maybe they need a technical expert on the DTECC tech for the operation. Afterall, who knows what is waiting in Siberia ?"

Even though the crowd he was in was probably going to be the most open minded he will ever see, he didn't quite feel like confessing that he had gone all Lestat and had started a all new red and liquid diet. He hadn't harmed anyone (yet), but still, he didn't want others to know that he had hid that all this time. His best bet was to act surprised when it came out from the tests.

Oh really? I don't actually know that much. Education is hard when you're bouncing around from foster home to foster home because they keep mysteriously, and spontaneously, combusting, which I had NOTHING to do with. There's now six matches being juggled, each of which lit itself, but Will's hands don't appear as though they're actually touching the matches.

He then realised Sparky wasn't talking about whoever experimented on him but possibly something else.

Ilja steps inside, closes the door with a smile, and sighs in relief.
"Thank God. I thought I was gonna say something awful or worthy of a restraining order."

Josh makes a note of the address in case Ilja ever needed some help, then began to run home. It was a bright antarctic day, and the chill wind cooled him down as he dashed along the streets, sandals clattering upon the concrete. He was home far too soon, and stepped inside, locking the door behind him.

He threw his coat upon the rack in the entryway and threw off his sandals, striding up the stairs directly before him two at a time. He pulled on his stained and worn painting shirt as he walked into his work room, grinning madly. He had to finish off this picture of Alice's chessboard today for the commission - all black and white and red, with green in the forest surrounding either side. Oh yes, painting was wonderful...

Ilja collapses in an armchair. Curling up in it, she briefly naps.
When she awakes, she picks up her bag. She spills the contents upon the floor, making a pile of things she'll be taking and things she won't. After about ten minutes, she's got it figured out. Repacking the appropriate items, she finally goes off to bed.

He seemed embarrased. He turned and made his way swiftly down the road and back to his run-down shack. It was strange, he had supposedly worked in the physics department as well, if what those DETCC nuts told him was true, but he remembered none of it. He pulled a floorboard loose and rumaged around in the collective junk emerging with a tattered passport that was supposedly his.

Nope, still nothing.

Nose buried in one of her books, Ilja realized it was 1 AM.
"Doesn't seem like I need much sleep as well as food."
She kept reading.

Meanwhile, a twisted, snarling and sharp toothed grin spread across a pale, gray face.... watching through a scrying crystal at the event from a far off plane.
