[Plasma Snake]

Jamis gives a slightly incredulous look to Ohmel, then to the camel and back to Ohmel. He shrugs and pulls a large bundle of silk rope out of his pack. He tries his best not to burst out laughing as he ties the rope around the camel's midsection. When finished he pulls with all of his weight to test the camel's sturdiness.

Use Rope - (1d20+8)[23]
I think this is the first time I've ever made a Use Rope Check.

As the torch tumbles down the hall, it illuminates a sandy floor below. The bottom appears to be about 30 feet down. Although Jamis seemed dubious, after he ties the rope around its withers, despite a little bit of loud complaining, it doesn't move very much. It was trained to carry far more than Jamis.

"Rope's secure, I'll go first." Jamis says while removing his hood and sun lenses.

Jamis throws the other end of the rope down the hole and repels. Reaching the bottom, he draws his daggers and examines his surroundings.

Ohmel follows, carefully dropping down the narrow shaft, grasping onto the rope for dear life.

Jamis climbs down the rope with ease, reaching the bottom is short order However Ohmel is less lucky, as the tremors of his hands cause him to lose his grip on the rope briefly, nearly falling the 30 feet, but he catches himself it time, and makes the rest of the descent well enough.

The chamber that Jamis and Ohmel are now in seems to be a long hallway, 15 feet wide, and extending at least as far as the light of the torch as far as Jamis can tell. Ohmel sees that it does seem to extend beyond the radius of the dropped light.

The floors are made of soft sand, and the walls though rough, are clearly hand worked.

Looking around their immediate area, neither man is able to find anything, except the shattered remains of the broken slab that had covered the hole above them.

Leading, Ohmel picks the torch up, pulling a lantern from his small pack and lighting it. He then hands the torch to Jamis and begins to walk forward, observing the hallway as he does.

"Might as well see where this goes then."

Jamis sheaths his left hand dagger and picks up his torch. He slowly proceeds down the hallway looking for any traps along the way.

Search - (1d20+14)[33]

[Whiplord]

Ohmel leads down the hallway, his feet making soft imprints in the sand, joining a few sets. The sand has obviously not been trod on or disturbed for a very long time. Most likely the footprints belong to whoever sealed the tomb.

Jamis walks behind, checking for traps behind Ohmel. And he does find a trap. Right as Ohmel activates the trigger. The floor opens beneath Ohmel, and Jamis is caught teetering on the edge.

As the floor opens up into a deep pit, Jamis only barely manages to avoid falling in, throwing himself backwards and landing hard on his rump. Unfortunately, Ohmel is not quite so lucky, and although he gives a valiant leap for the far edge, it was too little too late, and he tumbles downwards 20 feet into the spiked pit.

"Great, I hadn't had enough of trapped tombs in my old country."

Ohmel places his foot against the rough wall and seeks insight from The Host, pulling himself upward.

Jamis waits for Ohmel to climb back up and move to the side. Moving 20 feet from the pit he says,

"I think I'll take point from here on out."

With a grunt, Jamis breaks into a sprint and leaps across the pit.

Despite the fall, Ohmel isn't too terribly injured, twisting his body to avoid most of the spikes damage. Between the rough walls and protruding spikes, Ohmel is able to climb up the far side after deftly navigating the treacherous bottom.

Jamis takes a flying leap, and effectively lands on the far side, where the hallway continues.

Ohmel once again prepares himself, uttering a brief incantation and drawing a circle on his chest, focusing on The Host as he does so. Checking to see if his lantern broke in the fall, Ohmel is unhappy to find that it has. He then moves his hands over his robe, speaking quietly. As his robe begins to glow, he draws his spiked chain and presses onward, following Jamis.

Cast Divine Insight and some Light.

Continuing down the hallway, Ohmel and Jamis soon come to a carved stone wall, that looks as if it might be a door. An examination finds a ring shaped slot in the door at eye level. Ohmel removes the 'key' from his hand and puts it into the slot. A grinding noise sounds, and fire blooms from all over, but both men remain unsinged.

The room is a 100 foot dome, the floor covered in black sand. In the center is what appears to be a sarcophagus.

Opening the sarcophagus, Jamis feels sick for a split second, but then the feeling passes. The only contents is a small ruby carved with the likeness of an eye. Ohmel casts detect magic, and looking behind him spots a small glow coming from beneath the sand about 30 feet back. As he starts walking, the sand erupts and a tentacled and armed mass comes forth, wrapped in ancient funeral bandages.

The battle was fierce, and both men had close calls with death, but finally Ohmel manages to strike a killing blow. The battle was over.

Ohmel slumps down and searches the corpse of the beast thoroughly.

Search - (1d20+19)[31]

As Ohmel shifts aside limbs and pokes around the corpse, a glint of light on metal catches his eye. Lodged inside of the creature's mouth, literally stabbed into the side, is a dagger. Completely black, the blade has a wavy edge, and the handle is ornately carved--two tentacles intertwine the length of the hilt, ending in a human skull at the pommel.

Jamis finishes healing himself and places his wand back in its loop on Jamis's belt. Leaning over Ohmel as he searches the corpse Jamis smiles at the sight of the knife and asks,

"Do you mind if I take that? You know how much I like knives"

[Wertible]

"Well, perhaps if you could use those knives in combat instead of just talking about them and running to the back of the room, I'd consider it."

Ohmel wipes some of the blood from his mouth before continuing.

"This is clearly the dagger Yagji wants. We shall deliver it as requested. On another note, I could use some healing, before I lose all my blood please?"

[Plasma Snake]

"Great thing to do, mocking your partner" Jamis says, "Especially when he's the one with the wand."

He draws his wand again and points it at Ohmel, murmuring the spell trigger.

Noticing the lack of healing, Ohmel laughs.

"Sorry, that was the wounds talking. I'll be fine."

Ohmel leads the way back out of the tomb.

Jamis stares at the wand in his hand in disbelief. Cursing, he put the wand back again and jogs to catch up with Ohmel.

"Come on, I'll lead the way back to the Capital"

Still somewhat wounded, Ohmel and Jamis limp their way out of the domed room of the tomb, and into the hallway beyond, Ohmel's eye catches a bright glint on the ground outside the door. Stooping down, he sees it is the ring that unlocked the door originally, now just laying in the dust.

Ohmel picks up the ring and wonders why it would be out of the door. Shrugging, he continues onward to Arq'Batal, dagger in tow.

After a walk that takes longer than the original trip, due to heat and injury, Omhel and Jamis reach the gates of Arq'Batal. The commander from yesterday is at the gates, and waves them through with a suspicious glare, ensuring that Ohmel has his token once again.

Ohmel breaths in the city air once more.

"I'm going to go back to the Ashworm. After kicking evil ass, I deserve some rest."

He shakily strides off, camel with him, toward the Ashworm.

[Plasma Snake]

Kicking evil ass? Jamis snorts.

"Yeah, a nap sounds good about now"

[Whiplord]

Walking through the city, on a route that's becoming fairly familiar by now, you make your way to the trade district and to the outside of the Ashworm. Entering in, your eyes immediately notice the difference and lighting, and it takes a minute for your eyes to adjust.

The smiling innkeeper (whose name you realize you still don't know), has approached you. His eyes widen slightly at the sight of Ohmel's wounds, but beyond that says nothing.

"I see you're back. I'm always pleased to see return customers. How may I help you today? I assume you will be wanting two rooms again?"

[Wertible]

Looking at the innkeeper with a sheepish grin, Ohmel sighs.

"Yes, two rooms, I'm gonna need my rest."
