Re: Disunity
Peering through the crack you see a guard sitting with his back to you at a small round table. In front of him is a small fireplace crackling with a roaring fire. You see that the table is set for four people and the plates at the empty seats are still full of food. The room has two more doors coming off of it, one on the far wall made of the same ubiquitous white materiel while the other is on the right wall and made of steel and with a sign on it saying "evidence room".

Re: Disunity
Iden was confident that Sigdis would have his back, and went first, easing into the room on silent feet. It was nervous business though, putting yourself out front in times like these. No he much preferred safety behind high walls or heavily armored men. Not the time to be thinking of that however. With a slight tremor in his hand, he attacked the gaurd in the chair.
SpoilerSo I manage to sneak up on him and FAIL.

Re: Disunity
Despite gaining complete surprise, Iden's blade glances off of the guards gorget. The guard starts to rise, drawing his sword.

Re: Disunity
Jessamine groaned as the human completely failed to sneak attack the guard. It would have been a great deal easier if he had managed it...or if he had let someone else give it a shot. But what was done was done and it was time to make the best of it. One guard against four of them? Nearly too easy.

Redek simply shook his head at the failure. Well, considering what had happened before, he should have expected as much. Hopefully this would turn out better than the last time.

Plucking at her scarf again, Jess took a pinch of wool between her fingers and pointed at the guard. "Nighty night," she said sweetly as the spell hit him.

Re: Disunity
Sigdis dropped one of her spears near the door. She had been hanging onto it in the hopes of using it as a projectile, but that was unnecessary now. As she stepped swiftly into the room, her body language changing perceptibly to something more aggressive and she held her remaining weapon high over her head as she rushed the guard. "Die!"

Re: Disunity
Jess waves her hand and the guard stares off into space in a daze. Sigdis charges the guard with a vicious stab to the chest which pierced through mail and flesh. Inspired by Sigdis's charge Iden slips his knife through a weak point in the guards amour, severing an artery and causing the guard to drop to the floor unconscious. Redek starts to cast a spell, but seeing that the guard is not a threat anymore, lowers his arms.

Re: Disunity
When you attempt to open the door, the handle refuses to move. It is locked. Upon closer inspection there are two key holes one which is mounted on a steel plate that matches the steel that makes up the door and one mounted on a rusted iron plate. The key holes are too far apart to use both key holes at once.

Re: Disunity
"I think we should open that door sooner rather than later," Iden remarked, glancing at the third door. That was probably their way out, and if he counted the place settings right, probably where the last gaurd lay. Unless he was hunkered down in the evidence room.

Re: Disunity
Jess produced the keys with a flourish. "Unlocked door coming right up! Step aside!" she declared. Round peg, round hole she thought to herself as she tried the iron key first in the iron lock.

Re: Disunity
The key is very hard to insert into the lock, almost as if it hasn't been used in a very long time. After forcing it in and turning sharply, you hear a strange buzzing sound, just before a small jolt of lightning arcs from the plate into your arm.

Re: Disunity
"Youch!!" Jess hissed, letting go of the key immediately and jumping away from the door. The muscles in her arm felt tight and her fingers were a bit numb, but it didn't feel like any permanent injury from that jolt... "Well, damn," she muttered, wiggling her fingers to try and get feeling back in them. "Anyone else wanna give it a shot?"
SpoilerI've actually gotten zapped up the arm by a socket before...I think the feeling is comparable to what Jess is feeling right now.

Re: Disunity
Sigdis narrowed her eyes, then tapped her foot, thinking. "No.. maybe... you try that one again, and give me the iron key. Two keyholes, two guards... to open the door. More secure for them to hide their loot, yeah?"

Re: Disunity
Still flexing the numbness out of her hand, Jess thought about it for a moment. "Well...I guess that makes sense..." She sighed and took the steel key off the ring and handed it to Sigdis. "We'll give it a shot, but if I get zapped again you might find something unpleasant in your next meal."

Re: Disunity
Sigdis nodded in thanks, and took the offered key from Jessamine. "And if I do, you may find something unpleasant in your brain - like shards of your nose," she said.

Re: Disunity
You insert both of the keys into the door, the steel one goes in with no resistance while the iron one is still resistant. As the keys are turned two things happen; a small shock jumps from the door into Jess's hand and you hear a faint click from the steel lock. Upon further testing the door has been unlocked.

Re: Disunity
As you open the door you find a smallish room that contains a melange of weapons, equipment and armor. One thing that stands out is a large chest in the center of the room. It is sealed with a large iron lock and there is a small plate on it with the words "Confiscated items used with the intent of spreading sedition and unrest" Upon examination of the room you find that the majority of the items in the room are ones that were confiscated upon your capture. The new items are: 30 gold, a masterwork greatsword and a longbow.

Re: Disunity
The jolt this time spread past Jess's arm and into the rest of her body, spreading a dull ache and general numbness into her small frame. "Oh, you're kidding me! Ow ow ow..."
Again rubbing and flexing the tingle out of her skin, Jess located her goggles and necklace amid the piles of confiscated items. After putting the goggles back on top of her head, she held the pendant up and smiled at it. "You caused me some trouble, pal," she said softly and slipped it back around her neck.
SpoilerWhee! Teamwork! But next time, I vote someone else gets electrocuted. -_-; Stupid iron lock...
