You've got to hand it to the author - even if his characters are immature twerps, they're treated appropriately.

Re: Yet another fantasy gamer comic: discuss
Well atleast her existance is starting to have a point. Who knows, if the coming strips are done well enough it might make up for her being introduced in the first place.

Only if it takes it to the logical extreme and make her die in the war she is about to start.
Though i do find it strange that the Orc god is about to start a war, if the Orcs are not prepared for it.thnx to Starwoof for the fine avatar

Re: Yet another fantasy gamer comic: discuss
Am I the only one who wants to call bull**** on Glorias speech? I mean seriously, under the mountain is funny to us but it's a horrible goddamn place to live. People rather blatantly kill and eat each other off the streets, get kidnapped by drow for torture for no reason, and have to deal with evil gods that demand living, sentient sacrifices.
At least on the surface if someone in charge is torturing you they usually think you did something, and you can walk down a street without fear of being devoured alive by something horrible. These people may not like her but they let her walk free and with one exception did nothing to harm her no matter how down on her luck she was or how little she could actually do to profit them.
Which is a damn lot more than black mountain did until Glon decided to pity her daughter and let her get away with what is pretty much the only actual lawful justice the orcs have.
Seriously, what the hell?

I don't think Goria's speech is supposed to be interpreted as true or unbiased. So no, I don't think you're the only one who calls buls**t on it.

Re: Yet another fantasy gamer comic: discuss
You know, I really don't feel anything at todays strip. I get what Rich is going for, just ...nothing. Gore humor's been used so much, and Jone's killed so many people it generally stops having an effect.

Re: Yet another fantasy gamer comic: discuss
Jone bore me. She had promise initially, but she squandered it by being That Girl That Stare At Things Without Ever Saying Anything, and now she is That Girl That Kills Men Who Are Not Chivalrous Enough Around Women, and that's kinda even more annoying; especially after having been exposed to one year of Dominic Deegan's orcs (I know, not Rich Morris' fault).
It's still a webcomic I like, but I want this arc to be over quick and to get on the next arc, preferably one without Glon or the other orcs. I'd even welcome a Charlotte arc (but not Arachne).Hark! An avatar drawn by Kate Beaton!

Re: Yet another fantasy gamer comic: discuss
Yeah, there's only so much hack-n'-slash humor one can take.
I'm personally hoping that whatever comes of this "just one raid means WAR!!" plotline is worth all the Jone panels we've had to go through.LGBTitP

Re: Yet another fantasy gamer comic: discuss
Way things are going I can't see an end for Jone but under a hail of arrows or Impaled With Extreme Prejudice, and after some explanations everyone will realize Gloria has no logical place when meeting royalty, nor should she be anywhere near tense negotiations. Some explaining on how it's all really Jones fault, and everyone will be glad the creepy silent child who overshadowed everyone will be glad she's dead.
Really if this goes on any longer this'll go the way of Dominic Deegan. Honestly this entire thread will be snark and nothing else pretty quick.
I've already said how much worse this is because of Jone's good character potential.

Whatever happens with the daughter the Joker is ashamed to talk about, I hope Lucas doesn't die in the upcoming war.
I wouldn't mind if Glon died for good, though.Formerly known as Discord here and Maladin on avatarspirit.net.

Re: Yet another fantasy gamer comic: discuss
You know, I honestly wouldn't mind if the entire black mountain was somehow killed. It'd get rid of Glon, Gloria, Jone, Ms. Bloodhand, Arachne, Lolth, and various characters we've forgotten or were never that in love with in the first place.
While I admit I'd miss Nike and Maybe Gren and Bob, we've seen so little of them I'd come to terms rather quickly and look forward to the surface arcs, where every other panel isn't "evil is teh cool and teh sexeh!".

Ah fangirls, they never cease to amuse! It even distracts me from the outrage that a girl who's done nothing recently and overtly except torture and make weapons has fangirls among the races said torture and weapons are inflicted upon.

Re: Yet another fantasy gamer comic: discuss
So, despite women in the military, active among nobility, and showing no such sexisim on a large scale before people are so uneasy with a woman taking a domestic job they'll put up with harder conditions? Hell whiteye was a freaking orc, in noticeably shabbier clothing, and she looked like she had a tavern full enough.
Wow, the more I think of this the more forced this arc feels.

Re: Yet another fantasy gamer comic: discuss
My interpretation so far is that actually, that woman is just a... "very unfriendly woman", and there are other reasons why people prefer the other establishment. Perhaps the beer is better there as well.
As long as I'm not forced too admit the other opinion, I'll prefer the more logical one.Resident Vancian Apologist

Re: Yet another fantasy gamer comic: discuss
If she does that every time she sees a man being affectionate with a woman, shouldn't Glon be dead?
Again.
