Re: Yet another fantasy gamer comic: discuss
There is so much awesome in this latest comic. The colouring, the backgrounds, the explosions, the funny, and Lewie's back!
Give me any character, and I will give you a freeform conversion.

Re: Yet another fantasy gamer comic: discuss
If there are still, they can have the consolation she went out with a bang, rather than a whimper.
Does Lewie's intervention count as a Deus Ex Machina? Ironic, given that it destroyed what was literally a dei machina (no guarantee on the correctness of that Latin). She was Gruumsh's war machine after all.Hark! An avatar drawn by Kate Beaton!

Re: Yet another fantasy gamer comic: discuss
I'd say no, but after having read the Greek tragedies that are the source of that trope, I've always been less inclined to label anything as a Deus Ex Machina.
Seriously, Lewie showing up and blowing up Jone is nothing compared to a god literally showing up in the sky and saying "HEY, NO! The ending is like THIS!" And then everyone caving in to his words before the god just vanishes again.
So I may not be the best judge of what constitutes a modern day Deus Ex Machina.

Re: Yet another fantasy gamer comic: discuss
This is unrelated to the actual comic, but damn those are some cute kittens in the newspost. Then again, it's awfully hard to find an uncute kitten.
Oh, and nuclear lichsplosions ftw.

now they "just" need to off Jones followers before they turn into worshippers and make her go the path of The Dark One

I've said it once, I say it again: I hate this kobold more than I ever hated Jone.

Re: Yet another fantasy gamer comic: discuss
She's not quite the lovable ball of non sequitur that Cap'n Fang is, is she?
Seriously though, here's hoping her prophecy isn't going to take place any time soon, and we'll focus on the return of Lewie.LGBTitP

Re: Yet another fantasy gamer comic: discuss
I don't know, I kind of like her. Jones was just a mindless killing machine. This character (what's her name? Do we know?) has brains, knows how to use them, while still keeping a moronic smile on her face. She's the big archvillainess of the story now that Lewie is turning mushy.

Re: Yet another fantasy gamer comic: discuss
Point.
I truly hope it's not foreshadowing. I don't think I'll be able to bear another 150+ strips with Jone, even if it's 20 years from now.Formerly known as Discord here and Maladin on avatarspirit.net.

Lewie's truly the best character of the comic. Cap'n Fang has nothing on him.

Wait. I don't get it. I know 8-Bit Theater. But I don't get the "Brick joke" reference. Is the shown combination happens to be the one recommended by the FF1 guide?
edit: I take all that back. Okay. The author is that awesome. There is AT LEAST 5x 8-year+ long brick joke in that comic.Last edited by SolkaTruesilver; 2010-04-02 at 01:57 PM.

Goria's expression when she talks about "dear Lewstrom" and "gratitude" says it all, really. He coerced this post somehow.
