It it kind of obviously padding out for some further anticipation building on our parts. But mostly it just seems a bit silly.

Yeah, its pretty obvious padding, but its a one a day comic... It can't all be plot, and maybe the rivalry between the two of them needs to be firmly established for something coming later.

There's something going on with his father... I'm wondering if he isn't a dragon in disguise, or a doppelganger, or something...

I'd say he's still human. He's just planning something that needs a dragonslayer. I'd say he's either allied and wants to hand over the last dragonslayer, or the dragonslayer bloodline has some magical properties he wants to have for his clan.

Honestly... I miss pretty much everyone...

Granted, this arc isn't bothering me anywhere near as much as the last one, but there still aren't many characters I really give a damn about playing a role here.

I like the new story arcs, they< are fairly solid fantasy stories. The old evil-is-funny was kinda worn out. And I really don't miss Arachne Uberdrow.

By the way, is a wooden spoon an eligible weapon for Weapons Master? Just curious. Would make a fun build for a npc.

If you can count "Wooden Spoon" as an Exotic Weapon (and to be fair, a 5ft long double-handed wooden spoon like the one in the comic *is* pretty exotic), you probably can.

I suppose you could just could it a a Quarterstaff of a Two-Handed Club and have the rest as just detail, but so long as you can take Weapon Focus in it, a Weapon Master can use it.

It's a bit on the light side, so maybe a light club but with the reach of a two handed club (if there's any difference in D&D, I really don't remember).

I don't quite see how the dragons wouldn't figure out his plan. You'd think they would keep a close watch over him. Surely at least one them would have a scrying crystal in their horde.
