Atrocious lack of ethics aside, that plan is simply ridiculous. In ten years, Astrid gets killed and he's left with a handful of dragonslayer toddlers while all his allied villages are getting roasted alive.

I mean, seriously, "cut off your head and have the imp teleport it to your cleric friend so that he can raise you and warn your mentor" makes more sense than this!

If you can count on a dragon to be one thing, it's egotistical. If you put a bunch of huge egos into one competition over one thing, they'll clash.
