If you can count on a dragon to be one thing, it's egotistical. If you put a bunch of huge egos into one competition over one thing, they'll clash.

While that's true, I also feel it's just a bit too obvious a ploy considering that dragons are supposed to be pretty smart. That's the kind of baseline tactic I might see working against trolls or similar low-intelligence monsters, but aren't most dragons are supposed to be brighter than your average human?

Nah. Metallic dragons are generally at least as intelligent as humans; but chromatic aren't that smart overall. The red dragons are above-average, but the white dragons are borderline retarded.

Even smart people can have over-inflated egos, and if you're a thirty-plus-foot-long, centuries-old, whatever-breathing, flying lizard known for his ego, you'll have quite the ego. If your ego is a major character trait despite having those traits, it's probably big enough that you'll make some bad judgments because of it.

Though it's just teenage antics, I'm really glad to be back with the Monsters under Black Mountain.

They're much more fun, and the comic is always more memorable when it's about someone other than the Lord-of-the-Rings-Clone humans like so many other webcomics.

Probably less. Remember, your typical fantasy monster has a shortened life cycle, so they grow up faster. How else do you think those dungeons get restocked so quick?

My statement was more along the lines of there being no point in specifying chaotic evil for teenager since chaotic evil is also the default behavior for teenagers.
