Re: Werewolf Classic Lite - Game on!
Day 9 finally ends!
The day seems to drag and drag... and drag. With no apparent end to it, the villagers grows restless and somewhat panicked... yet again.
“Where is the end?“
Cue the doom prophet.
“You want to know when end is coming? You can't handle the truth!“
“What are you saying?!“
“The end is night!“
“Well... yeah. For the poor bastard that gets eaten.“
“Are you saying you're going to make somebody meet their end tonight... wolf!“
“What? Don't be silly, I'm not a wolf!“
“That's what everybody says! I, for once, refuse to be swayed by your lies!“
And with that, the doom prophet swings his cane, hitting the poor guy straight into the head, which results in him falling down. But he's not dead yet. As the prophet closes in, the mob roars in one voice:
“FINISH HIM!“
Swinging his cane once again, this time, the head comes off. And once again, it would appear you got the wrong guy. But before disappointment can set in, something happens.
One of the villagers, the guy knows as Griever, walks up to the headless corpse and sniffs the air.
“So hungry...“
Dropping down on his knees, he starts tearing Fin's flesh away from his dead body, stuffing it in his mouth with almost animalistic hunger. As if the sight itself wasn't terrifying enough, his body starts changing. Arms getting harrier, more muscular, face getting longer, mouth full of sharp teeth... soon, a full grown werewolf stands before you. Obviously sated for now, he turns his eyes towards the terrified villagers.
“So yeah... looks like the jig is up. Feeding time!“
Taking a few steps toward the villagers... he steps on silvered rake. The force of impact launches the rake up and embeds it right between his eyes. Making wide eyes, he falls down soon after, dead.
Summary: Fin way lynched, he was a villager. Griever was autolynched, he was a werewolf. Night starts now and ends in 24 hours, forum allowing.Last edited by Mordokai; 2009-03-20 at 07:54 AM.

So... they not only miss kills, but also are autolynched...
And yet, you expect them to win?

Re: Werewolf Classic Lite - Game on!
Okay...good, but for the wrong reasons. Looking back at the kills this has had the hallmarks of a Griever-style play. Five of us left, lets looks at the riders and runners:
Banjo - Has been wrong with almost every single theory, also followed Jontom, who turned out to be an innocent. Has voted for self and has been trying to post useful theories without success. Wolves probably haven't killed him yet because he's killing villagers for them.
Lex-Kat - Dilligent vote record, has suspected Banjo for several days. I personally don't think she would allow a kill to be missed if she was a wolf. I think she's innocent.
Recaiden - Quiet, but that's nothing new. Voted for Fin yesterday, who was innocent, but then again, most of us did. Unsure about you at the moment.
Bushranger - Another quiet player, hasn't been voicing any opinions. Has also suspected me for several days, and I know I'm innocent. Potential wolf due to that missed kill a few nights ago, as may well have left the target selection to the absent Griever.
Zar Peter - Has had problems accessing the forums recently...a reason to have missed a night kill with Griever also absent? Been quiet, but has supported me. Has the kind of tactical mind that could have pulled the wool over everyone's eyes. My favourite gnome in the world, but I'm afraid he's my top wolf suspect.
So, Zar Peter or BR will have my vote tomorrow, I haven't quite decided yet. If they're both wolves then we have to lynch them consecutively to score a victory. 4 wolves in a 20 player game would be fair. I'm putting my theories out there so the survivors of tonight have something to go on.
See I might be killed tonight. What would that mean? Were my suspicions accurate so I get eliminated? Or am I wrong, so that the wolves can set up my two suspects for an easy lynch? If I survive, are my suspicions wrong, or am I being kept alive to be implicated and because I'm under huge suspicion already?
Interesting times...
EDIT - Actually...5 of us left, 4 after tonight, so there must be only one wolf left or else they would already have won. Unless the narrators are leaving the possibility of a kill being missed. Possible, but now I favour only one wolf being left.Last edited by banjo1985; 2009-03-20 at 09:59 AM.

Re: Werewolf Classic Lite - Game on!
End of Night 9
"I don't want to go out hunting tonight," one wolf said to the other.
"Why not?"
"Haven't you heard about the ghost that's been haunting this place?"
"..."
"What?!"
"You're scared of a ghost?"
"... yes"
"... okay, maybe I am too."
Meanwhile, on the other side of town, the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine pulls in.
Spoiler
Some time later, the crew has Bushranger tied up. "And then he invented the werewolves to scare everyone away!"
The villagers looked at each other. "Um, no. We're pretty sure the werewolves are real. We've actually killed two of them. You were supposed to find a ghost."
"Ghost? Where?!" Scooby and Shaggy run and hide.
"Right here!" Bushranger said, going incorporeal and escaping from his ropes. Laughing, he flew off and hid in the nearest house. Which happened to be where the wolves were also hiding.
"Omnomnom! Hey, that ghost wasn't half bad. Not very filling though."
Summary:
SpoilerThe Bushranger was killed. He was a villager.
"Yeah, and you didn't share any with me. We'd better go out and get some more."
So Lex-kat and Zar Peter headed out into the village and scarfed up the last two villagers, Banjo and Recaiden.

Re: Werewolf Classic Lite - Game on!
Yeah! We won...
Well, we missed the first kill because... well, maybe we were discussing whom we should kill and nobody came to a result and then the night was over. And the second kill Lex forgot to include the narrators into the kill post.
Blue Umbrella, you were on our top kill list after you posted a list were only one wolf was mentioned (me). We wanted to make it as if you were killed because you're list was correct.
All in all we hadn't to do very much, the villagers were on the wrong track nearly from the beginning and, except for gnome4ever, never came us near.
And gnome4evers post gave us two rounds of ineffective lynching, too (Alarra and Jontom)
Well, Banjo in the end had some correct thoughts but it was too late.
Only one thing to game mechanics: I think the villagers were underpowered. They had absolutely nothing while the wolves had a network. There should have been masons, about as much as wolves. This way the wolves had to do a bit more than just hide away...
All in all thank you for the game, it was a lot of fun reading and playing.Avatar by the great Lord Herman. Many, many thanks!

Re: Werewolf Classic Lite - Game on!
When we first raised the concept in the Central thread, Shadow said the villagers would need masons. It wasn't that we didn't believe him, but we wanted to test the concept first. It didn't take long into the game before we decided the next iteration will have masons.

Re: Werewolf Classic Lite - Game on!
I like the concept with no masons. Just have slightly less wolves than average - for 20 players 3-4 wolves.

Re: Werewolf Classic Lite - Game on!
My whole plan, other than missing the two night kills, revolved around not killing those who were obvious targets.
Only two wer killed because they worried us.
Blue Umbrella and Wolfbane.
We were going to kill Jontom the night after he was killed, but the villagers did it for us, with a little proding from me.

Re: Werewolf Classic Lite - Game on!
Well played, everyone!
My two cents: I've seen other forums where this kind of games are played (No masons, baner or seer), and it works there, but not with a deadline. They don't finish the day until a person gets more than 50% of the votes. It makes it more important to have a good analysis.
Also, nobody can post in the night phase. And there's no comunication outside of the thread... Rules are tight, there...So I herd you liek Mudkipz by Mr. Saturn

Re: Werewolf Classic Lite - Game on!
I wish I had listened to my suspicions of Zar Peter. The kill before I was lynched showed a pattern to wolf kills and Zar Peter was the next person due to be killed in that pattern. When he wasn't it might have solidified some suspicions I had. However I was dead by then. I cannot believe the villagers lynched me. However I also can't believe the wolves didn't kill me first night, so thanks for that.
Although Banjo was suspicious for the same reason in a way.
Actually that favours the wolves. A lot. This whole game would have been much easier if there had been one or two more wolves.
Why?
With no masons and especially no seer, the only way the villagers can find wolves is by their suspicious behaviour. The more wolves there are, the more likely that bandwagons will form against them and they will then get protected by other wolves, etc. etc. In other words there is more likely to be suspicious behaviour to spot with more wolves.
To take it to it's extent, suppose there is only one wolf. He has no agenda other than to hide and stay hidden. He just spends all game acting as unsuspiciously as possible. He doesn't have to worry about protecting other wolves or other wolves doing silly stuff that might give him away. He just plays exactly as if he were a villager. Then the only way the villagers can find him is by pure random luck.
That's essentially all Lex-Kat and Zar Peter did, and look how easily they won. Despite missing two night kills.
So if there were to be another game with no masons I'd want a full third of the players to be wolves.
21 players = 7 wolves. That means that the quickest the wolves can win is 4 days with 4 non-wolf lynches and 3 night kills. The chances of not lynching a wolf in that time through pure chance is really really small. And once one is lynched then that gives clues as to who else might be a wolf, quite apart from the other suspicious activity that is sure to ensue. However, after three days, the villager only have a one person lead, so would need to lynch a wolf every day. So that makes it hard on the villagers.
Maybe one quarter wolves is best.

Re: Werewolf Classic Lite - Game on!
Well bum, I finally get a correct lead and the game ends. Well done wolves, you played an extremely good game there. It was pretty obvious that you decided to act as individuals and leave as little pattern as possible in your kills and votes. You gave us nothing, and we followed duff lead after duff lead.
Still, I really enjoyed this game, and the villager defeat wasn't due to lack of trying. I think as a whole most of us villagers were trying and paying attention to the game, the wolves were just too well hidden on this occasion. Though I agree we might have had more luck just picking names at random ratehr than spredsheeting.

Re: Werewolf Classic Lite - Game on!
Finally for very belated narrator's comment. And once again, it's not all that much to comment.
I think for the test ride, it went pretty well. Like it was mentioned already, villagers were perhaps a little understaffed and when/if I run next game they will probably get at least masons. Or we can try running it like skippy suggested. It would take some trust that it will really work like that, but I guess most players here are mature enough that we can trust most of them to play it by the rules... even if most of you are supposed to be chaotic
The day ending too soon thingie. Happyturtle ended the day and she said the day would last only 36 hours, so we could bring it back to normal schedule. I agreed with her, since if we would want to bring it back to normal schedule again, it would suddely make a day 50 hours long. Which... wouldn't be all that bad, as I see now. Damn, failed at math once again. The point is, I decided that it's a good choice and I stand by it. If anybody's to blame, it's me.
What else? I think there were a couple of more things, but I forgot. Thanks to happyturtle for help, it was invaluable. More than once you saved my lazy ass. Thanks to everybody for playing. And a big appology to villagers for giving them false hope on last day. It wasn't out of spite or anything, I just forgot to take into consideration that there's still night kill to be done. Sorry.
I think this one went rather well for test run. However, after Spytrap and Lite, I feel my creative juices are pretty much, well, drained. It was noticable even now. So if anybody wants to run next one, be my guest.Adrie, half elven bard. Drawing by Vulion, avatar by CheesePirate. Colored version by Callos_DeTerran.
