I just want to pop in to say that I've come up with an idea for an NPC fraccion for myself. His zanpakutou is named Alacrán, which is supposedly spanish scorpion (there were two words, so I could be using it wrong). Anyway, I just wanted to let anyone else with NPC arrancar know that I called dibs on scorpion.

Here's an idea: The espada show up in their highly effective disguises... and find a group of shinigami from the 2nd and 5th squads on a mission. This gives them a wide selection of potential spies, but also convinces them that the disguises are useless and that the shinigami knew they were coming.

I don't hate you, but Sigmund is tired of your collective alter egos putting him in the middle of your 'fight'. If Yen had gotten him involved, he'd have laxitive issues or something.

That could be interesting, but it creates the problem of relative power levels. At the moment we can assume that the all Captains except the Captain-Commander are roughly evenly matched in combat. They may have different specialities and weaknesses, but they currently all have the same 'point value'.

The Espada, however, have a very explicit hierarchy with wildly differing strengths between the ranks. So if one Captain faced off against the 5th Espada while another fought the 8th, what should happen? Do we simply say that some Captains are much stronger than others? Do we ignore it and make each fight an even match anyway?

Whatever the case, we should agree on a single interpretation before any actual clashes occur.

Which is exactly why they should be a serious threat. Their role as villains means that they eventually have to lose, but that's no reason to stop them from smacking their enemies around until then. In the series so far every Espada so far has started with at least the appearance of the upper hand in any fight they've entered. Whether it's an initial victory to establish themselves (Grimmjaw vs Ichigo), a raging conflict with each side building in strength (Kenpachi vs Nnoitra) or just a fight where their whole 'advantage' is an illusion (Mayuri vs Ssayzel), the Espada are entitled to their victories.

I tried to make my arrancar as overpowered as I could without getting out of hand. And without making too much of an assumption that he could be a vasto lorde, since we don't even know if Stark is one...

But here's another question. What are we going to do about the Exequias? Should we keep Rudobon? Make up someone new? Scrap the entire squad?
