GLoG 21/XX1: Half of Life, the Universe, and Everything.

(No, it isn't my birthday today, but I decided that Johnny should have a birthday in late march/early april. My 16th birthday isn't until mid-june. )
Johnny continues bouncing about on the pogo stick while laughing with childish glee.

(I've also got my birthday off from school due to it being in the exam period. Unfortunately I have an exam the day after my birthday)

Johnny is embracing his inner child, so expect him to build a treehouse or something. (I've never had a treehouse )

Johnny stops bouncing around and starts opening the presents his family sent him.

Jenna undeadtimes in the main room, looking rather sorry for herself. She has a twibble on each knee and is stroking them without really thinking about it. She's looking up at the feather hanging from the end of her quarterstaff.

Johnny waves at Jenna and bounces over on a pogo stick.
Hello, I'm Johnny, nice to meet you.

Jenna looks up and see's a guy on a pogo-stick...that was new. Maybe these people couldn't help her after all. She brushes the twibbles off her legs and gives Johnny a genuine smile.

"Hi there. I'm Jenna, Jazirian let me in. I'm just kind of resting up now...I've been on the road for a long time..."

She puts the quarterstaff on the floor, stroking the rough edge of the feather as she does so.

"It's your birthday today? Congratulations!"

((A birthday celebration? I MUST SPOIL IT! I mean, can I activate some plot-stuff, now that people are online?))

A drone gives Johnny a present from Vorka; an engraved gold-hilted obsidian and jade dagger, with a fine edge.

Thanks, I'm 16 today. The pogo stick is a present from my dad. If I know my dad as well as I think, there's probably some magic spell cast into it.
Johnny smiles and stops bouncing up and down.
Would you like some birthday cake? I don't think I can eat the whole thing by myself.
Johnny opens a box that has a large chocolate cake in it.

Jenna's eyes light up when she see's the cake. She's only had a glass of water since she came to GLOG.

"Wow...that cakes looks good, make sure the twibbles don't smell it! I'd love a little piece if you don't mind. I'm afraid I don't have a present or anything to give you..."

Jenna looks embarressed. She's used to being the kind and considerate one, but she doesn't know these strangers at all. As much as she wanted to get to know them, she didn't think she'd be around long enough.

"That's a very fancy dagger."

[Kaelaroth]

A rock is hurled, with considerable force, through a window, flying past Johnny's head, narrowly, colliding with a drone. Good shot.
There's noise outside. Like there're lots of people, shouting.

I don't mind, just having people around is good enough for me. I lived in New York with seven brothers. Presents were never really important because mom would come home and we were a family, if even only for a day.
Johnny looks at the dagger, sheaths it and takes out a cake cutting knife, he cuts a slice of the cake for Jenna, puts it on a plate and gives the plate (with the cake) to her. Then he cuts a slice for himself and takes a bite out of it.
Dad definitely knows how to bake a cake.
Then the peace is shattered. Johnny ducks to avoid any more projectiles.
Oi! I'm trying to enjoy my birthday!
Arcane energy crackles around Johnny's hands.

A small air elemental appears by Johnny's side.

Jenna jumps to her feet as the rock hits the drone, quarterstaff in hand and cake forgotten for now.
She moves cautiously over to the window, looking at the feather for guidance. ((It glows crimson when a fiendish creature is nearby))

"Stay back Johnny, this sounds like trouble."

She may be new in the base, but Jenna's maternal instinct is strong. She wants to protect the younger guy, despite only being 3 years his senior. She guesses she's seen much more of the world than he has. Things he wouldn't want to see.

She sidles up to the window and takes a mirror out of her pack trying to aim it so that she can see what's going on outside without making herself a target.

There are crowds of peasants, outside. Their very look just screams peasant. You can almost taste the leprosy, see the stench of poverty, hear the rolling fumes of dirt. It's like an opium dream, were you to have no cash, and paraphiliac tendencies.
So, yes. Many, many peasants. Some are waving pitchforks, flaming torches, carrying bottles of lit whiskey, holding banners proclaiming poorly spelled words up high into the air. Many, however, are throwing rocks. Another three come through the window of the great-room, another coming into the kitchen, landing in the sink.
We don't want our world to end!

[Fredthefighter]

Johnny steps forward with the air elemental, arcane energy crackling once more across his fingertips.
Johnny's voice seems to echo.
I can help.
The energy from Johnny's fingers seems to turn into something peaceful and flows at Jenna, if the spell makes contact, Jenna should feel stronger, faster and smarter.
Johnny sighs.
Neither do we! He shouts at the crowd.

This is all a bit of a shock to Jenna. She thought she'd been taken in by a heroic organisation, not a world-ending cult. She's unsure of what to think.

"Johnny, what are they talking about?!"

She cringes as another rock flies through the broken window next to her. She flinches at the spell but realises she doesn't have much choice but to trust him.

"Arachnia III"

Jenna whispers a spell under her breath and several small green spiders appears in her hand. She puts her hand up to the wall and lets them climb onto it. The spiders start spinning shining green strands of material, working to throw a net over the broken window. The strands are very strong, but as quick as they are at spinning it's a process that's interruptable.

[Kaelaroth]

Oh sweet Pelor. Is that a... a... Oh MY MORADIN!
A very large boulder is catapulted by the makeshift catapult outside, towards the base. It looks like it'll hit one of the residential wings in my next post.

Meanwhile, outside on the grass, peasants are panickedly racing about. They seems disorganized, most not knowing anything, it seems, apart from the fact that they ought to be attacking GLoG. Then why allow such horror?! A little nun screams, amid the CHAOS.

Meanwhile, people, were they not paying attention to the big-ass rock, that's heading through the air, or the tens of hundreds of smaller, cruddier projectiles that are sweeping towards the base's windows, may be alarmed to see a huge shape, at least triple the size of any conventional animal, rip through a rank of protesters towards the back, and carry off a number of humans, devouring them, as it's distorted by a number of weird shadows.

They're talking about something that will end the world. I'm not sure what though.
Johnny smiles slyly.
Vento da parete!
An invisible curtain of wind supports the webbing, it's 2ft thick and considerably strong.
Johnny sees the carnage.
I can't let this happen.... but I don't know what to do.
He slumps to his knees with a sad look on his face, then he raises a hand that begins to glow blue. A magical shield forms around the residential wing that the boulder is going to hit. It is very strong and is bolstered by Johnny's own strength.

"...What the heck was that thing?! It just ate those people!"

Jenna bakcs away from the window, calling the spiders back as she realises protecting the windows is futile.

"It's carnage out there! I've got to try help those poor people!"

She runs for the door with her pack and staff. It doesn't really occur to her that the peasants might try to kill her, mistaking her for a member of GLOG. She's not stupid but common sense and caution are not her strong suits.

[Kaelaroth]

The big-ass boulder collides with Johnny's force-field, with a rather big boom sound, and after a nasty impact, rollls down the side of the shield, hitting the ground with a somewhat more gentle bump. A large number of smaller stones bounce offof the shield, as well, and plinketty-plop onto the ground like gentle, sharp rain.

Jenna should be able to get outside with little trouble, unless Johnny stops her. It's carnage. Peasants, serfs, bakers, florists, dancers, gypsies, bar-staff, singers, smiths, drivers, farmers, housewives, nuns, and many other groups of strange and weird folk are running around and panicking, most still hurling objects towards GLoG, in blind panic.

Towards the back, though, the huge shape bursts out of the shadows, almost as if it had merely grown from it, and starts laying waste to a crowd. A hulking monstrous beast. It stands at roughly ten foot tall, currently (its size seems to shift and flow, 'long with its shape) towering over the average human, with a huge bulk. It's vaguely doglike, with human features phased in to grant the entire beast a feral, warlike look, with a sense of extreme cunning. Some people who've read the registry thread may recognise it.

Johnny whimpers slightly, then releases the shield.
I have to help her.
Fire engulfs Johnny's right hand and electricity crackles across his left.
He mutters a few arcane words and grows to the size of an ogre, his muscles grow with him and a green shine glimmers along his body. He rushes out of the door.

[Kaelaroth]

And the release of the shield allows a further rain of projectiles to smash into GLoG's walls and windows; one smashing into the window of Czernov's lab.
Flames start to roar.

"Oh my......"

The creature takes Jenna's breath away, and not long after the changed Johnny trundles through the door. It's a good job she can recognise it as him.

"Head off that monster, just keep it busy! We have to get these people to safety!"

Jenna stands in the doorway of GLOG and uses a quick air control spell to make her voice carry across the plains.

"Quick, come inside! We can't protect you out here! Please!"

Jenna had a second to wander what GLOG would think of a none member opening their doors to all these people, then she pushed the thought aside. These people needed help, just like her.

[Kaelaroth]

Obeying Jenna, mostly out of panic, it seems, a crowd of people nearby the spellcasting GLoG folks flee into the building, not having noticed the fires that have now started to build on the other side of the establishment.
Inside, sprinkler systems have already turned themselves on.
The scary-ass beastie rawrs at Jenna, briefly, still obscured by darkness, as if light shies away from it, and, ripping through another batch of scared serfs with its huge maw (which, by the way, seems to have several rows of shining teeth), dives through a shadow, vanishing away.
More rocks though, are thrown, from another side of the riot, from those who haven't noticed the large beastie.

(Bugger)
Johnny notices the fires and seems confused for a few seconds.
For the greater good.
The flames around his right hand fade and they are replaced by a green glow.
A green orb flies into Czernov's lab and begins trying to absorb the flames into itself.

"Thank the gods..."

Jenna runs inside to care for the injured peasants, and to try and keep them under something approaching control. She trusts the sprinklers to deal with the fire, because there's not much she can do if they can't. The rest of the crowd will have to wait, if the creature has gone then at least they're not in immediate danger.

Feel free to godmod the little ranger if needed.

((Offski on the piss....yes it's 2pm....yes it's been a long week...no that's not an excuse...expect some indecipherable drivel from me sometime around midnight ))

Johnny shouts at the large beastie if it's still here.
Hey! Ugly! Over here!
Johnny will then hit it with a barrage of lightning and fireballs.

Many of the crowd turn-tail, and run, especially when they start to see the sorcerer-kid whip out the mojo, and then the carnage that.. whatever-that-big-thing-was did to their ranks. The aforementioned beastie went away a while ago.
The green orby thingummy, and the combined efforts of a fleet of drones with foam extinguishers and the sprinkler system manage to put out the flames, but damage has been done to GLoG's residential wing.
Although much of the crowd has left, or is leaving, one might see things they've dropped of the off-ski. Pitchforks, hoes, rakes, flaming torches, instructions on how they should destroy GLoG, the holy organization, after they allowed the end of days to be conceived, the occasional sweet wrapper...

Johnny uses a tiny magical whirlwind to clear up the debris and what the villagers left behind. He then shoots the things the villagers left behind with a ray that disentegrates ordinary objects.
That's all I can do for now.
Johnny slumps down on the sofa inside GLoG because he's very tired (but not exhausted) from all the spells he's used today.

Crodelus finally manages to scrape off the last of that deadtime ooze which had been clinging onto him since Vlad had pounced at him. Unfortunately, Vlad seems to have disappeared to go do something else since then, so he instead focuses on the stone creature he had created. A moment's gaze told him all he needed to know. "It looks like shaping really is much weaker here." he mutters "A well crafted worm from back home could probably eliminate this failure." He places his hand on the creature and concentrates for a few moments. The creature seems to convert itself into some form of energy, which he absorbs into his body.

He then leaves the room to see what is going on in the rest of the base.

Suddenly Jazirian and Khiansa shake off the deadtime ooze that held them in place while the riot was going on. Shame. I wish I could have helped.

Khiansa has finished the holding shrine for the Brightheart. I'll put the full details in one of the OOC threads, and maybe the OP, seeing as it's a Big-ass Artifact of EXTREME POWER^TM.
For now, suffice it to say that due to the nature of the shrine-type thing, the Brightheart still emits positive energy for the distance of the Artifact Vault, and can be used as a powerful healing device, without putting a giant positive energy blanket over the base. Lucky for the few undead we have within our walls.

Jazirian, having perhaps over-done his 'training' slightly, heals his bruises as far as he thinks he can without completely collapsing, and heads to his room, only to find it destroyed. Exhausted, he sits in the ruins of his former bedroom, leaning against a piece of rubble.
