Jontom Xire, someone who creating so many walls of text has to go. All these different arguements are making my head spin. Or it is just the fact that I'm spinning around in one of those chairs that has wheels and you can spin on. Oh well, back to spinning, Weee!

Re: Llama Llama Duck 2 - Game Thread - The Return of Insanity
Ok. Here's how it is. There are 2 ways to stop an argument. The first, as you so eloquently put it, is to kill all your opposition.
Second? Stop arguing.
However, if people feel that I need to be killed, I propose this. Wait 1 day. Why? So every seer can scry me tonight. That way, at least the death can attempt to do something. If the opposition is dead set on the information route, then at least the llamas should have more seers than the ducks. Getting all of em tested at once, should therefore at least help the llamas more than the ducks, and give them a chance at catching up in the organization war. Then it's a matter of the good seers finding good masons. They can then, avoid the risk of JX's plan here.

Uncle Festy claimed to actually be a duck over AIM while banjo claimed Remnant-ness on MSN at the same time Murska said he was always a wolf on Yahoo but then Jontom Xire caught the Calvinball and declared that everything just happened in the Opposite Effect Zone before Hobbes pounced on him.

"Oh-hoho!"
The chef Llama opens the front doors to the restaurant and flips the "closed" sign so it reads "desolc", which means "open", as opposed to "nepo", which means "closed".
"Welcome! Welcome a-to my restaurant! It's-a-me! The Chef Llama, the best Llama chef in the Llamaverse! May I show you a-some of my skills? Sir? How about you, madam? Or you, sir Jontom?"
"Excuse me?" asks a customer. "What is this you're serving me?"
"Why, my dear customer, it is my best recipe for copy-pasta!"

Re: Llama Llama Duck 2 - Game Thread - The Return of Insanity
I didn't read the walls of text that were those arguments yesterday, so maybe that's why it happened.
In either case, that is exactly why I left last night. Basically I was tired of debating when neither of us were going to give an inch. Sometimes we just have to agree to disagree, as is obviously the case here.

Ten pages in two days? None of it RP'ing?
C'est impossible!
Blegh. I declare that all of those who argue so much and make those walls of text are evil!
But isn't it generally that we're dissapointed that we have to lynch practically random the first few days?
Damn you silly voice in my head.

Re: Llama Llama Duck 2 - Game Thread - The Return of Insanity
Spoken diplomatically. Much moreso than the Jontom.
Jontom, please remember... Before you state that I'm refuting your "logical" arguments out of hand, and claiming that I don't understand logic..
I provide reasons, evidence, and statistics to back up my view. And yet, they're dismissed, out of hand, as illogical.
The majority of my counters to your proposal rely on a grasp of statistics that most people are not exposed to. It's not day to day stuff, and thus, it's not surprising that some people aren't familiar with them. I'm not condemning you for the inaccuracies that I believe you have. But take a lesson from shadow. There's no need for the mudslinging.
Of the two sides in this debate, I've seen one, calling over and over, loudly, for targeted lynching. Over and over, to remove me from the game. Have I once begrudged you your attempts? Nope. Have I once made a call for everyone to rise up and smite you via lynch? No.
And yet, many have... So, so, many.
What will happen when someone decides they have dirt on you? How many more will they need to tip that scale?

Yes, logic™ dictates that we stop argument at it's source, which is Jontom.
You can't stop us. Even if Talic should fall, another will replace him, again and again.

Re: Llama Llama Duck 2 - Game Thread - The Return of Insanity
Not to mention that adopting such a hostile attitude towards assassins lessens the likelihood of other assassins stepping up. If that were REALLY the goal, then the smart move would have been to talk up the assassins, to laud them, until several were known. Then, go after them, once they're out of the shadows.
Me? I'm rarely in the shadows. Afraid of the dark, and all. Wrap your head around that one.
EDIT: I fail to see what the "us" is. Who am I being identified with? Another assassin?Last edited by Talic; 2009-04-08 at 07:02 PM.

Re: Llama Llama Duck 2 - Game Thread - The Return of Insanity
As the sun falls, all sorts of arguments have been made.
Lynch Jontom
Lynch Talic
Lynch Random Player X
Lynch the guy in the red shirt!
But in the end, the mob gathers up with it's brute strength, and more fingers point at Jontom.
The a twinkling noise is heard. A man known as Indurain comes streaking through the crowd.
We're going streaking....through the quads....this way!
Many of the people pointing at Jontom eyes follow Indurain as he runs through.
WOW - what charisma. He must take enzyte.
When they stop gawking, they find their fingers had drifted, and now were pointing at Talic. The executioner grabs Talic, puts him into the guillotine, and pulls the trigger before anyone has a chance to say STOP!
Summary:
Spoiler
Jontom had the most votes, however the Vortexers used their powers, called in Indy, and forced the points to go to Talic.
Talic was lynched. Talic was an Assassin, and sided with team Llama.
Ducks - send in your votes.
Players - send in your actions.
Allysian & Mordokai are up for autolynch tomorrow if they don't point. If you see them, please remind them.
Day 2 ends. Night 2 begins.

Re: Llama Llama Duck 2 - Game Thread - The Return of Insanity
I believe it was Winston Churchill who said that there were three types of lies. Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics.
I also believe you are talking about probabilities not statistics.
And I studied quite a lot of statistics both at school where I did two and a half maths A-levels, and again at University. Unfortunately. I wish I hadn't. So while I may be a bit rusty I understand about standard deviations, the 5% thingummy whatsit, minimum meaningful populations (or whatever the proper term is) and so on.
I also understand what you say about how random killings are as likely to kill ducks as Llamas and so keep the populations in the same proportion.
What you failed to realise is that I don't care. I don't want to keep them in the same proportion. I want to kill ducks only. And I also strongly believe that the more ducks there are, the more likely it is that they will give each other away. And I also believe that people signed up to play this game, so killing them for your own personal enjoyment of your assassin power over them is selfish (and a little pathetic).
If the VorteXer ability could be used on oneself it would have been me turning votes for me onto you. But I can't. It appears that someone else, with much the same view as to what constitutes a good ability to choose as I have, also had a very similar idea about who was the biggest threat.
I wish a Llama mason would get in touch. One poxy mason is all you would risk, and you might gain so much more.Last edited by Jontom Xire; 2009-04-09 at 02:38 AM.

Re: Llama Llama Duck 2 - Game Thread - The Return of Insanity
You are right. Oops - my bad. Sorry Talic, it may have given you more of a fighting chance.
Or perhaps it would have lead to more argumentation between you and Jontom - whom I also forgot to inform, so really you both were at the disadvantage.
Regardless, I'm sorry for not informing you.
And to clear a few things up on Vortexing, since many PMs are asking....
Yes - they have to send in the vortex the night before.
No - it can not be changed throughout the day phase.
Yes - it can daisy chain. Points sent from one player to another may be sent to a third. A to B, B to C = A to C.
No - players can not vortex themselves.
No - Howard's saving points will not traverse through the Vortex.

Re: Llama Llama Duck 2 - Game Thread - The Return of Insanity
Probabilities are derived from statistics. Indeed, that's the primary purpose of them. Using past knowledge to gain a meaningful insight into the likely future.
If your grasp is rusty enough to refer to anything in the field as a "thingummy whatsit", I fail to be convinced.
How's that workin out for ya? What's the tally so far? Part of a successful plan is setting a meaningful, attainable goal. Yours isn't. Further, the ability of a duck to give another duck away is entirely dependent on one duck knowing another. People don't often reveal information that they don't know. Then again, that's just me, being illogical.
Is the assassin power part of the game? Yes? Then people signed up to play a game with assassins. To enter a game, and then demand a power not be used seems kinda selfish to me. Just sayin. People play for a lot of reasons. Some like to point randomly until they're killed. Some sit quietly and go with the herd. Some are rabble-rousers, who want to bend a mob to their will. Some... Just like to cause drama, in an effort to feel like they're right.
Feel like you are? Still? After what? 3 llamas and no ducks? How's your "I only kill ducks" workin' out there?
Ever think that someone could have been a duck? Then what does seeing me as the biggest threat mean? It's interesting the conclusions you can draw with incomplete information.

Re: Llama Llama Duck 2 - Game Thread - The Return of Insanity
Not entirely right. Approximations of probabilities are derived from statistics (and probably shouldn't be). Accurate probabilities are derived from mathematics and provable facts.
Fair enough.
Think deeper.
You can look at it as a tool to be used at the right time to win the game, or you can look at it as you do, with more of a "Whoohoo, I can kill people! You are all in my power! I can kill anyone I want! Whooohooooo! FEEL THE GODLIKE POWER! I AM SO MAGNIFICENT BECAUSE I CAN KILL ANYONE I WANT!" attitude. I think it is clear to everyone which approach you took to being an assassin.
Again, think deeper. If you actually understood anything Shadow and I tried to explain to you, you would understand why we saw you as the biggest threat. It may well be that the person who turned points at me onto you was a duck, but that may well be less because they saw you as a threat than that they saw you as an irritation.Last edited by Jontom Xire; 2009-04-09 at 04:45 AM.
