With a name like that, you have to give it a go.

She did say that she liked the Kazoo version of Enter Sandman by Metallica. Unfortunately, the actual version did not please her. We have at least made some progress.

Myself, I'm getting an impulse to just link some of my favourite pieces/songs from as many different genres as I can think of.
Not that I expect HPsauce to like them necessarily. Just for the hell of it.

Sorry Fred, but seriously, my 11 year old sister and my 10 year old brother are more open minded when it comes to music.

Who knows, maybe she'll at least like ABBA

That's what I did, but only 1 was available in Britland.

I know. But if we can't even get her to open up to Tears for Fears, I doubt we can open her up to a 60's band. Even if they did completely revolutionise music AND the world.

@^: No, we won't get her into Grunge. Not yet anyway.

OK, I wasn't explicit last time (or ever, honestly), so while I listen to Black Eyed Peas, is there anything, what's the word, notable about the songs you do like? Matching up by genre isn't working so maybe there's some other sort of hook. (So far Black Eyed Peas has got danceable beats as well as a bit of a song over it. There might be some compatible stuff on the fringes of alternative hip-hop where the DJs remembered to make their synth tuneful, but ALL of the usual "but this is better than kee-rap, just try it" DJs will be strikes. That's NO Muse, NO Atmosphere, NO Sage, just don't.)

    The Beatles revolutionized THE UNIVERSE.

Beatles In Space, anyone? No one will get this in-joke, just realized.

Also, Tears For Fears kicks ass.

    Exactly.

Unfortunately Raistlin, I do not wish to disown her (I have no one else to play PS2 games with ). So unless I can find a replacement, that option is barred (and I care about her too much to do that)

This is a real long shot, but perhaps the song that got me into metal, or at least it's live version.

I fully expect this to backfire.

I hope you're one of those people that just go through this faze...
I've met a lot of them. They listen to modern pop and modern R&B, but then when they actually begin to understand what music is, and music theory on some level, they begin to appreciate different types of music, perhaps whilst still listening to modern pop and R&B.
And by the way, yes Lady GaGa is pretty good, but I prefer Pink.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a date with Iron Maiden.

(whaps Nameless upside the head) Did I not just say "NO Muse"? Sad to note, the songs which I was going to reference, while referred to repeatedly on my home board, weren't ever named there, and the CD in question is in storage somewhere. Where, exactly, I no longer know. Catching up with the resident expert in independent hip-hop will take a day or more and explaining what I'm after will probably take another day.

Someone has stripped most of the '80s-era Madonna off of YouTube. Probably the lady herself. Shame--it would fit. "Frozen" is still available, but that was in the '90s and is less beat-driven and swans around more. It won't be a great match but it will be listenable.

I doubt it. Also, she says goodnight.

I do have good news: She likes the music of Jonathan Coulton.
