Song in the Playground
So I got this idea from all the voice recordings going on in the You Thread recently. Basically, the idea is that we do a collaborative song (with or without music video), one line each, or something similar. Then someone (quite possibly me) would stick them all together with a backing track (perhaps also done by playgrounders) and hopefully get some semblance of music. It'll be really good if it works, and really fun otherwise.
Questions:
1.
a)Should it be a cover or original?
b) If Original, would you write for it?
c) If cover, which song?
2. Do you think this would work (given enough work)?
3. Are you in?
(completely incidentally, I think this may be the first thread I've ever made...)Last edited by Dogmantra; 2009-06-05 at 02:40 PM.

Re: Song in the Playground
It should be a cover, at least the first should be if we do multiple, a song that many people would know. And I'm in.

Re: Song in the Playground
I say original, and then we try and cover something. It's hard to find a song that is suitable and everyone knows... I'm down.

Re: Song in the Playground
Okay, you did the questions, I've got my answers.
1.
a) I'm fine with either, although doing a cover would be easier.
b) I'd write some of it, but I don't have much of a talent for music. How much I write would depend on how long we would want the song to be and how many people would be taking part in the writing.
c) So many to choose from, but right now, "We Will Rock You" by Queen.
2. I think it would if there was enough effort put into it.
3. Definitely. This avatar pierces the heavens and is by Miss Nobody!SpoilerOriginally Posted by Anuan

If I had a halfway decent mic, I'd sign up. I think a cover would be best.

Re: Song in the Playground
Cover. If I can find some way of doing a decent quality voice recording and I like the song we pick, I'll do it.

I think it should be a cover. Making an original Good song with loads of people would be too hard.

Re: Song in the Playground
1.
a) We have enough creative people here to be able to make an original piece, but I don't mind doing a cover, though that would be kinda lame with the talent on this forum. Damn difference of tastes...
b) lolno; I'm a writer, not a lyricist.
c) IF we do a cover, I'd suggest something with a vast possibility of instruments. An easy example would be something by Polyphonic Spree, but I don't think many would like to do any of their songs.
2. Yes, as long as we don't do anything too narrow.
3. If I find can record something at a friends house, I might just join this. All I need is the music.
P.S. I'm not back, I just happened to see this when I stopped by to check messages.

IF anyone wants:
SpoilerOff-white marble counters
Where the counters count the greed
But they had nothing there to counter
The masked man who did the deed
And we were gone, course we weren’t ever there
Though you weren’t far wrong, you were still miles away
You interrupted our song, which wasn’t very fair
‘cause we were almost done, but you stole our state of mind away
Oh yeah!
*Solo 1*
Enumerating sickliness
As his fingers flick a bead of
His PC, calculator, abacus
Oh God above, show them some love
Or kill them
Throughout the years there have been
Many a person whose job
Is putting a final price on sin
Oh god above, show them some love,
Or kill them
And we were gone, course we weren’t ever there
Though you weren’t far wrong, you were still miles away
You interrupted our song, which wasn’t very fair
‘cause we were almost done, but you stole our state of mind away
Oh yeah!
*Solo 2*
And we were gone, course we weren’t ever there
Though you weren’t far wrong, you were still miles away
You interrupted our song, which wasn’t very fair
‘cause we were almost done, but you stole our state of mind away
Yeah, you stole our state of mind away.
Doesn't have a title yet.

Re: Song in the Playground
I say we cover "Never gonna give you up".
Also, I'm in. I can kinda sing. Other people tell me I sing quite well, but I don't believe them.

Re: Song in the Playground
Heh, that was my suggestion. I've got the piano sheet music lying around here somewhere...
Anyway...
1. I don't care, either's fine with me. I probably wouldn't sing, but I've got a trumpet, a baritone, two tin whistles (Eb and D), a couple recorders, a bodhran, a bass guitar, and a keyboard here, and can play each of them to some extent. So if we do music, I'm good.
2. Yeah, I think it could work.
3. Heck yes!
@xanaphia/Gwyn - The combined product, once the lyrics kick in, kinda reminds me of The Mars Volta's "De-Loused in the Comatorium" Album. Kinda cool.Last edited by RTGoodman; 2009-06-05 at 11:41 PM.

Re: Song in the Playground
1. Cover, probably. Lots of people here write, but it would be simpler to do something people know.
2. With the right planning, yeah
3. I'm in. I'm not a great singer, but play guitar, bass and mandolin to a pretty decent level.
Sounds awesome!"And from across a crowded floor this beautiful girl beckoned me
She took my hand and together we walked out, and danced into the night…
I had the strangest dream, but I'll swear I was awake..."

Re: Song in the Playground
I can play drums or guitar if you want a backing track..Not sure how the drums would sound though, I don't have a decent mic setup for them :<
Just don't make me sing...I cannot...Sing...

Why don't we just do Smoke on the Water? It's simple yet very good.
