Lawl. A couple of centuries is the time they need only to leave their galactic sector, even when not facing a single bit of resistance, because they don't even have a freaking warp drive. Ruling the galaxy without a warp drive is like ruling the sea with canoes. Just a lot more futile.

Actually, they do have warp drives. They're just not very good ones, they "skim" the warp in small jumps rather than moving through it as other races do. This greatly limits their speed, they're very lucky that they started off in a dense sector of space.
However, this means that they are exposed to only the milder regions of the warp, and have little to no interaction with the malevolent entities that dwell there.
