Re: The Second Great War IC
Fitz: The spark gleams with conjuration and enchantment. It's somewhat blinding with the Detect Magic active.
You can sense magic within the metal room but you can't see anything to use Spellcraft on.

SpoilerTrue but I should still be able to see the aura it produces and figure out what type of magic it is as well as its strength. You will be part of my achievement.

Re: The Second Great War IC
SpoilerNope, you need to see it to be able to use Spellcraft, which is what determines the school of magic. And the spark is so powerful that it is somewhat drowning out the other magic, so you don't think it is very powerful at all. But you can't really tell exactly how many items might be in the room, there is more than one.

Re: The Second Great War IC
SpoilerFair, if the superpowerful aura of the spark is masking the other aura so that I can't detect it will enough without line of sight I'll just have to live without identifying it. But now I have to wonder what sort of spell was used to cast that orb and what it is.

"May the Gods watch over us all..", Gareth mutters, listening to the sounds in the house around him. Finally, he decides to head upstairs, hustling to find the source of the commotion, and figure out what the other half of their group got themselves into.

Gareth: On your way in you notice that the windows outside are still completely dark, even though there is a ton of light inside.
You rush up the stairs and find the double doors near the top of the stairs flung open. Much crashing and banging is coming from inside.

Fitz/Gareth:
The inside is well-lit by a steady, magical light in the ceiling.
There are two large cabinets, one on each north/south wall. They have several drawers each.
On top of these you can see two large locking chests, and a blank space in the dust which obviously until recently held a third. Tossed next to one of these you see a large-ish book covered in gilding, with a lock built in.

Haschel:
SpoilerNemal is technically in the combat with you and it's his turn.
Fitz/Garrett:
These locks are much easier to defeat than the big one on the outside.
One chest is completely full of gold coins, the other is less than half full. (Appraisal check if you want to figure out values)
One drawer has several interesting items in it. There are some dark leather gloves with white streaks through them, some plain, unpolished bracelets that can latch open and seem to be fused together, and a short cudgel with a cloudy gem set in the top.
In another drawer you find a crystal that seems identical to the one the monks gave you. There is a sparkle within it as if it already has something stored within.
The fancy book does in fact appear to be the ledger you were seeking. While it is mostly blank (there are about 200 pages), 21 pages are used.

Re: The Second Great War IC
Right so I say we take the loot so it looks like this was a robbery. Take everything and I can check for magic tomorrow. I think together we can heave out the chest of gold. Fitz says as he puts the gloves in a pocket and picks up the cudgel. Now then lets see what is on this crystal.
Fitz tears out a few of the pages from the back of the book and picks up the gleaming gem they found. Fitz holds the crystal above one of the pages and whispers Parshmelatii

Fitz: The crystal flashes out to the page. It seems to be some kind of record of employment.
Garrett: You can hear commotion upstairs.
What are you guys doing with the chests? The full one weighs about 75 pounds. The other one weighs about 40 ish.

Re: The Second Great War IC
If the crystal is clear of information fits will rip out some more pages from various part of the book (all towards the back) so it isn't noticeable that there are 21 pages missing. Then he gets to work copying the information that was needed starting with the most recent and working his way back. When the charges run he switches to the crystal that Garrett found to finish the job.

Re: The Second Great War IC
Fitz: I'll assume you empty out the crystal then.
There is some kind of receipt, and a very official looking Imperial Letter of Commission.
At that point it is empty.
So at this point I will assume you have completely used up the crystal from the monks, and have used a few charges off the other one as well.
