Satoshi is completely capable of it, he's a ninja, as are the entirety of his squad, so if he has done this or does this in his spare time, I don't see why we'd need to play it out. It's not like we play out Kil-J making every minor arrest, or every bar fight that the 11th Squad starts.

I can see your concern that Satoshi shouldn't be able to know everything everywhere but I think if it's in his character, and apparently it has been, I don't see why it's such a big deal or stretch to assume that he has at least dug up basic info on all of his comrades of at least Lieutenant or Captain rank, maybe some stronger higher seats peppered in, but.

Really don't see a reason to make a big deal about this.

NS, I do not recall how long you've been involved in the game (the results of severe skull damage plays mary hell with one's memory) but the 2nd devision Archive is an in-game fact. The Capt. of the 2nd has always been the expy bastard love-child of batman and the flash. Before the actual RP even really began, various abilities and histories were discussed. Among them was 'The Archive'. It was agreed upon that the intel squad would have the information, and the Captain himself would have failsafe plans for much of what was within it (as a nod to the character's roots).

That said, the reasonable measure to ensure this doesn't become a problem in the future, is to have any further intel gathering (as of the start of active RP) be mentioned in passing or actively RP'd. If your character is/was a significant member, or enemy, of the Gotei prior to the start of the game, odds are that there is at least some information on them in The Archive (even if it's just superficial knowledge and a rough estimate of power). If it becomes a problem, it will be dealt with. It's already a rule, if your character is an exception to it, make it known. That is all. There's no point in bickering about this any further.

Well, simply because it's a Meta Game ability. It basically gives him the ability to know everything about anyone in the current arc, and he brings it up right now because it's convient, if he had mentioned it before, it would have simply been something that he had already stated he had before any sort of usefulness could have arose from it. Now he mentions it here that he gets to know about all of us, despite shunning some of us IC. It's both god modding (no chance to react, despite it having been inquired), and a Meta Game ability. When told that someone didn't want his Character to know his abilities because he never tried to actually investigate, never gave anyone a reaction to his investigation, or even a IC statement that he HAD been investigating.

It's like the Rogue peeking at the monster manual for their encounter, or the wizard "conviently" forgetting to fill out his spell book so he can have the right spell for the situation.

Ok, seriously now. I never said in my post that I knew everything. I said that I knew something. I also specified that it was Shinigami. Does he have information on others? Sure. But that's been acquired as he goes.

He's also not had to fight a Shinigami before now. That is, a member of the Gotei 13. It's not come up before now because there hasn't been a reson before now.

People Satoshi has little to no information on: Masato's group, half the Bount, most of the Olympians, several Espada. I'm sure there are others.

But for a member of the Gotei to make Captain, they have to either beat someone in a fight (in which many abilities will be shown off), show their bankai to all Captains, or be approved by basically every other Captain (which would likely include having at least some information on their abilities).

Again, I stress that his information is not total in any way. There are large gaps for many individuals. But if that person is a Captain, Vice-Captain, or powerful Seated Officer, he will have something on them.

The whole point of my original post in OOC on this subject was to let people who might want to end up fighting him in the Execution even have time to decide what they wanted him to know.

I'm thinking that if I do roll an 'Olympian', it'll be Hades. For giggles, Morgan would have made a funny Poseidon, but that would cheapen his character. I really liked playing him, so I'd rather feel the loss.

I realized something. Shirubaru is professor Lupin from Harry Potter. One of the few good guys who've taken up his position, and eventually has to leave and is shunned for what he is, not who he is.
