If you're referring to the 'good guy beats bad guy' I'm pretty sure he'd say "It doesn't matter if the bad guy won in that story, Link always wins"

I jokingly began a Goku vs Superman debate with one of my roommates once.

It ended with him telling me that Goku would win because he perceives Goku as winning, and that reality is merely a construct of his own mental faculties, so whatever he believed to be true, was in fact true.

I then stared open mouthed at him and told him that we would never engage in a debate with one another ever again, as his solipsism cop-out was so amazingly ridiculous, he had effectively gone forward in time and made a dumbass cop out to every single conversation we would ever have in the future.

Of course, that would be a great argument if it was Lain VS Superman.

I don't read many VS threads, but I did see one where someone argued that Eragon could kill Dante by exploding his heart.

Superman could probably fly to Mt. Doom with Super-Speed before Sauron knew what was happening. Even if he saw him, he wouldn't be able to mobilise the Nazgul in time.

That is an interesting matchup. And it ends in Supes's favor. If Frodo could take it, the Man of Steel certainly could.

The entire playground vs a space marine.

It's an interesting concept, but people kept insisting that because it was a space marine several thousand people armed with handguns and whatever else they could grab in a weeks time couldn't so much as scratch it. It didn't matter that we discussed several anti tank weapons and fighter jets, or that we accepted we'd take up to 99% casualties.

Superman would be corrupted by the ring and he'd attempt to surplant Sauron.

You can make an argument for it either way, because of the nature of how the ring corrupts, or because of the fact that willpower/humility is pretty much Superman's greatest power in the comics - there are a host of heroes above him in power, but Kent doesn't ever let up and is nigh incorruptible.

DCAU Supes wouldn't be able to get away with it, though.

I remember a thread in a Comic Book vs Forum once where this guy just repeatedly and endlessly insisted that Electro could kill the Hulk by stopping his heart. That it wouldn't even take that much voltage.

For the Hulk. The thing that chews on electrical wires when it gets a toothache.

This is absurd. If Electro was that powerful, he wouldn't be a B-List Villain who gets regularly humiliated by Spiderman. No it doesn't matter if you take "plot protection" out of the equation, because it's not just plot that makes Electro a chump. He's just not that powerful, if he was he would have been important at some point in the last 40 years since they came up with him. But this guy wouldn't stop harping on it, ugh that was frustrating. T_T

Admittedly it's nowhere near as retarded as people who insist Venom could kill Blackbolt or Goku could just kamehameha the Living Tribunal, but I avoid patently ridiculous threads like that anyway so this is the biggest example to me.

Oh yeah, and on this forum I used to post at people would make threads like "Wolverine vs Blink" and "Wolverine vs Colossus," but only to insult Wolverine and insist that without "writer protection" he's one of Marvel's weakest characters. It was a sad display alright.

While I can't go too far in-depth, or compare to the Hulk, I was under the impression that Electro was, in fact, exceedingly powerful, and that he was simply incapable of using his powers to the incredible effect that he should be capable of.

You can't do canon futures for comics for more than about... oh... 1 year. It's been quite a few more since KC.
