The Moathouse: Planting 10, Early Night

    Round 2

Megiddo has trouble firing his ray around Grigor and misses the target.

The man that was moving towards Grigor earlier is able to clearly make him out and moves forward, but still keeps his distance, obviously content to let the emberlings close in first.

Grigor does not waste any time engaging the foes. He swiftly slices into an emberling, which promptly drops to the ground (( Attack: 1d20+8=17, Damage: 1d10+4=13 )).

    Round 3

The large man that has been commanding everyone move closer to the battle himself. As he does so, Grigor is again buffeted by unseen force (( 9 damage ))

A figure emerges from the wagon, pulling with him some sort of giant snake or worm that possesses a face full of writhing tentacles.

    Grigor, human cleric

Grigor is mighty annoyed when he is suddenly being beset by enemies, some of them summons no less before he gets to shoot his bow even once.

Oh well, Olidamarra knows no plan survives contact with the enemy. Speaking of which, Grigor decides to simply drop the arrow, keep the bow in his left to bring his buckler to bear and pulls the bastard sword from his back as he takes a deft step to the right, using his overhead pull to hack down on the human trying to get past him.

The Moathouse: Planting 10, Early Night

    Round 2 (cont.)
The bolts strike their targets. The human yells in pain, but the emberling merely hisses.

The human steps forward and hurls his lantern towards Megiddo. The lantern doesn’t even make it far enough to land at the cerebremancer’s feat. But it does free the man’s hands to unsheath a very large sword. “I’m gonna git ya, wizard.”

Despite being focused on Megiddo, the guard sees Grigor coming and manages to deflect the sword with his armor (( 1d20+8=13 ))

    Round 3
“All right! Enough of this!” the larger man shouts as he closes in on the fray himself. Megiddo then feels a strange imprint on his mind as if something is making an attempt to throw everything in his head into chaos. But the attempt is extremely feeble and Megiddo doesn’t even have to put up a token resistance (( 1d20+10=29; Includes elf bonus vs. enchantment ))

Meanwhile, the remaining emberling takes a few steps away from Grigor before hurling a bolt of fire at him. The bolt strikes Grigor in the back (( 9 fire damage ))

The man with the tentacle worm begins to lead the beast to the fray.

The Moathouse: Planting 10, Early Night

    Round 3 (cont.)
The ray of fire homes in on the psionicist, but at the last minute, its path suddenly changes and it blows harmlessly past him.

The guard still in camp crouches over the previously downed bandit.

The other guard engages Grigor, but the cleric deftly deflects the blow with his own sword. Grigor takes advantage of the opening this provides and cuts the man down.

    Round 4
“$#!%! Get your ass down here!” the bearded man shouts at the remaining guard. He then advances on Megiddo. As he does so, he draws a large falchion that looks to be made of some sort of crystalline substance. “You want to play that way? I can play that way, too,” he hisses as the crystal begins to emit a purple glow.

The standing emberling hurls another bolt of flame at Grigor, and it hits home (( 10 fire damage )).

The man with the tentacle worm pushes it towards Grigor. “Go, get him!” he shouts with a raspy voice.

The monster slaps at Grigor with its tentacles, but they are of no use against Grigor’s armor.

Grigor, human cleric (AC 22, HP 27/43)

Seeing that he and Megiddo are about to be forced into melee while some caster is safely away, Grigor changes tactics. Stepping away from the worm beast and closing in on the metal-armoured bearded man, Grigor mumbles a quick prayerto his patron god.

"Olidamarra, please help out your humble servant and shield us from our enemies' eyes."

With that a mist begins to rise around Grigor, encompassing him and everyone in a 20' area around him.

Also Obscuring Mist hould give us some respite from the caster and maybe even the emeberling. Although this thing could possibly burn away the fog like a fireball spell does.

The Moathouse: Planting 10, Early Night

    Round 4 (cont.)
The large man lets out a pained grunt as Meddigo’s spell electrocutes him.

Megiddo recognizes the man’s sword as being made of a psychically resonant substance known as deep crystal. When properly treated, deep crystal is as strong as steel and can be charged with psionic energy. Weapons charged with such energy can release it on impact, further harming the victim of the attack. The purple glow suggests that the man’s sword may be so charged.

Megiddo does not recognize the worm as any sort of extraplanar creature.

The remaining guard follows orders. He gets up and begins moving to the fray, drawing his sword as he does so.

The bearded man curses again when he realizes that Grigor is also a spellcaster. He quickly changes focus in an attempt to disrupt the cleric’s spell, but his falchion is neatly deflected by Grigor’s armor. However, it retains the telltale glow of psychic energy.

Grigor completes the spell, and a thick fog surrounds him and the nearby area.

    Round 5
The guard drops to the ground, an arrow sticking out of his neck.

Unable to see Megiddo, the bearded man continues to attack Grigor, but his blow is again deflected by the cleric’s armor.

A burning glow is visible, making its way through the mist conjured by Grigor. It seems that the emberling is making its way around, searching for its prey.

Suddenly, a murderous scream comes from behind Grigor. It seems the man that lead the tentacle worm to the fray found the cleric through the fog. With a great howl, he swings his sword, but cannot see through the mist well enough to even come close to making contact.

The worm creature also finds Grigor, but both the mist and armor protect him.

Seeing such a successful hit, the creature starts making a strange gravelly noise that could be interpreted as a laugh.

Tell casts a sleet storm, centered at the center of the obscuring mist, so it hits the same area, except it is taller. Anyone moving in the mist has to make a DC 10 balance check to move at half speed; failing stops the movement, failing by 5 causes them to fall prone. Additionally, everyone has total concealment in the sleet storm, and the sleet storm is also a distracting spell effect, so DC 16 concentration check to cast while in the sleet storm. It also puts out fires, so the emberling's burn ability would be negated.

"Reinforcements are on the way, Meg!"

He then shifts to wolf form and moves 50ft towards the obscuring mist.

    Megiddo quickly smothers the flame.

(( As to the pack: I don’t think leather is particularly flammable compared to most items that would have normal half-damage from fire. So that half-damage before hardness still applies. So the pack may be singed a bit, but no damage. ))

OOC: I assumed a 12 would not pass the save to put out the fire. If it does, then he fires the acid arrow.

    Grigor, human cleric

Okay so the foes aren't wailing on Megiddo, that is good. But they are really giving him trouble, which is bad. Retreating another few steps south-east, Grigor swings at the bearded man again, seriously considering to risk a casting.

The psionicist easily evades Grigor’s attack.

    Round 7
Tell casts his spell and then rushes right towards it.

Grigor hears a strange crash come from nearby, from the general direction of the bearded man.

Everything else is lost in the blinding sleet and howling wind.

Megiddo makes it out of the sleet in time to see the figures that were with Tell apprehensively approaching the sleet storm.

    Grigor, human cleric

Grigor, being unable to fight efficiently and wounded, takes another few steps southeast and prays for some healing.

(Ow, this is bad. Too many bad guys, not enough good ones. But hey, the limited visibility levels the playing field somewhat. That's just like you like it, eh Olidamarra? Still, I could do with some healing down here, you know, just in case... I know you favour the bold but being prepared is none too shabby either, eh?)
