Pearl

Pearl smiles wryly at Hector's question. She slides her sword back onto her back, and slides her bow off her shoulder.

"Indeed, because normally we're completely unified in our approach to a problem. I say we wait here a minute and then try to step back if they haven't come through."

Gneiss

Gneiss gestures toward the alcove where the others disappeared. "Through there. I guess we'd better go see what sort of trouble they've gotten themselves into now. Come on," he beckons to Tygerlilly and Lagri.

"Tunka, do you want to come with us, or wait here all by yourself until we get back?"

Tunka crosses her arms, Me wait, me no go there. She's suspicious and disappears back outside.

Tygerlilly bounces off the pile of clay tokens. Ooooooh, cool, I want to try it. She runs into the alcove and disappears.

She comes running through the archway and skids to a stop. She looks around, Oooooh, that is cool, where are we? Before anyone can answer, she runs back through the archway to Gneiss.

To Gneiss, You were right! They are on the other side and it's dark over there, well, not so dark, Kalrin's ring is really cool.

Bryce
Where does Tygerlilly get that much energy?" Bryce wonders aloud.

Pearl

Pearl takes advantage of Tygerlily's brief absence to murmur a response.

"I think she stores it up in her head, in the place where most of us have caution."

Lagri

The barbarian watches his companions shenanigans quizzically. Once Tygerlilly ventures into the cave he makes the connection.

"Ooooh, al-coof is vord for 'vall hole.' Lead ze vay half-voman."

Tygerlilly gives Lagri a really strange look, she has no idea what he just said. She tugs on Gneiss, Come on! Aren't you coming? Everybody else is going...

Lagri

"Da, da. I am comink," Lagri grumbles.

The icefolk drags Vleric closer and walks into the ill illuminated cavern.

[Philistine]

Gneiss

"Fine, suit yourself." Gneiss speaks casually over his shoulder to Tunka as he approaches the alcove. He stares briefly at the stone, taking a deep breath and hitching his pack up on his shoulder, then steps forward as the others had done.

Pearl

Once Gneiss, Tygerlily and Lagri have joined them...unfortunately, with Vleric literally in tow...Pearl gestures towards the fallen tower.

"Perhaps we could look inside that tower first, before seeing what's beyond the archway. For all we know, they all lead to new places like this one."

A strange question, but does it smell more or less the same here as it did in the previous areas we were travelling? Pearl is curious - if there's instant travel, maybe they're not even in the same place anymore.

"Sure. The tower is as good a place as any to start with."

The group is in the middle of the circle, between the two stone archways. The thin lines with the number 4 at the point is a wall 10 feet tall. There is water flowing around both sides of the wall and it collects near the point and goes under the wall. The place smells wet, decaying and cavelike.

Tygerlilly skips through the opening and announces her presence, I'm here! Isn't this great? Go in one place, come out another? Lagri, Vleric and Gneiss come through with her.

Gneiss

"Right, let's see what we've got here," Gneiss says impatiently. He turns his head from side to side, scanning the group's new surroundings.

Trusting Gneiss' steady and experienced eye more than her own, Pearl follows him, trying to use her light and own modest powers of observation to assist.

The icefolk stops in turn with his mainlander companions. He leers after the noise of moving water and huffs.

"Bah, eef only I haf canoe. Vater is much good sign for exit."

Everyone spreads out to search the area. There are rocks, rubble, water, slimy moss and generally it all looks long abandoned. The 10 foot tall wall has long cracks in it and the water goes underneath it at the point. The area that Kalrin goes over to inspect has a larger crack, but it’s not wide enough to fit through. The stonework isn’t dwarven and resembles the stonework they’ve seen so far. They can assume this is all part of the same complex and dates from before the cataclysm.

Pearl

Pearl peers up at the wall that only goes partway up to the cavern roof.

"Nice work. Well, should we try this other archway? I'd rather try climbing over that wall first, see where the water is pooling towards. What do you say?"

Kalrin nods at Lagri's comment, he'd be sure to remember that. I agree," he says, "let's follow the water."

Bryce nods. "Sounds like a good idea to me, Pearl."

Pearl

Pearl nods, and decides that it was time to put her money where her mouth was.

Making her way over to the wall, she finds a level place in the rubble to set down her lantern, and she sheathes her sword. She finds a reasonably level place in the wall.

"All right. Someone give me a boost, and then hand me up the lantern."

She'll wait for an aid another action, and then make a climb check (1d20-3)[0] to reach the top, then wait for the lantern before dropping down. Her intent is to drop down half-way along the south wall.

Hector

'Let me help." Hector followed Pearl and tried to give a her a lift up. When they came crashing down on the ground, he burst out laughing and scrambled back up to his feet. "You should let me. The wall can't be much harder than a sparse tree."

Pearl and Hector end up in a heap. They pick themselves up and this time Hector climbs the wall. It is much easier for him and he scales up to the top of the 10 ft wall and looks over. On the other side it's dark with a little light coming over the top of the wall. He can easily hear the water rushing under the wall. On the other side, it looks like there is one main street with more buildings. They're at the end of the street with the point of the wall pointing down the street.

Lagri

The barbarian guffaws at Pearl's tumble. His snickering clamps shut with his worn cheeks as he takes a running start at the wall's nearest corner. He thrashes and kicks his way up, almost as if to knock the wall down in spite should he not scale it.

Pearl watches in disgruntlement as Lagri is able to leap/scramble up the wall that's just defeated her.

"Showoff."

When he reaches the top, she offers to hand up her lantern to him. Better to have light on both sides, so that the two men could scope out what they were facing.

Lagri climbs up the wall at the corner and when he accepts the lantern he sees the same scene that Bryce does, except the light shows it a little further. An empty street that disappears in the darkness. It looks different from the ruins they were previously in.

Lagri

Lagri leans down to lend a hand to any would-be climber of the wall. The icefolk unravels the rope in his pack and looks over his shoulder to gauge the speed and width of the cavernous waterway.

"I am tinkink you do not vant to get stucked under ze vall, da? I swim channel un tie off line for zat."

Hector

Hector does his best not to laugh when Lagri climbs the wall after him. He'll take the lantern while the icefolk help the others up. "I thought you liked showoffs, Pearl."

Pearl

Pearl harrumphs from the other side of the wall.

"Liking people who are also showoffs is not quite the same thing, you pole-jumping goofball. Now, be careful over there - I don't feel like having to stand on Gneiss in order to get over. Should we all be following over, or try to find a way under the way Lagri is saying? If there's no big hole in evidence, climbing over on a rope might be more expedient. And less messy."
