Well, we'll need to figure out a way to ask her somehow, I guess. Quinn shrugs. Or I could see about maybe trying to fix her mind from the inside...I'm not as good as that as I used to be though.
Not since she got nerfed after that one knock on the head.

Tobias is in fox form. Butler might recognise the scent though.
And that's the best way for Quinn to explain in a hurry without scarring poor Misaki's mind. *nodnod*

Quinn promptly directs her ire straight at Butler, perhaps much to Misaki's relief. What were you thinking?!

...oh wait, this is Butler, he probably wasn't.

And dirt has nothing to do with it! She's a young woman, not a cat or a slave!

Tobias is pretty much completely a fox. No other smells on him. He is also not looking very happy with the idea of slavery either.

He still would've talked to the fox, even if not knowing who it was.

Confused Butler is confused. He's obviously getting yelled at, but he has no idea for what.

He looks at Misaki. "Umm... yes ma'am. I can see that she's not a cat or a slave ma'am. That's pretty clear ma'am." So... why mention it?

Butler looks back at Quinn. "What was I thinking about what ma'am?"

"You mean brain surgery?! Isn't that awfully risky?"

All the tension makes Sunny nervous, so she creeps into a corner behind an armchair and hides with her robot.

Quinn shakes her head,. Not at all. I said I was a telepath, remember? She smiles and taps the side of her head. I can go literally into her mind, and try to fix it from there.

(Now)

If it's that clear, why in Hades did you give her a fraking COLLAR! Quinn yells as she finally goes to stand up.

...effective or not, if looks could kill, Butler B. Butler would be Butler B. Smearonthefloor right now...

And what were you thinking with having somebody rearrange her DNA! Taking a deep breath, she realises how furious she's gotten, and tries to calm down before she scares Misaki.


Attracted by the yelling, Brendan starts to wander over.

Misaki is indeed a bit frightened, and her eyes are wet.

Butler is shrinking. He's starting to remember why he didn't like this place too.

"I, ummm... I gave her a collar because all catpeople have a collar ma'am. It's a... umm... tradition type thing ma'am. It's to show that she's a catperson and that we're proud of her ma'am."

More shrinking occurs. "And I don't recall anyone rearranging her... dinner ma'am?" This last bit confuses him.

Suddenly Tobias is there, trying to put a calming hand on Quinn's shoulder. Butler, in human tradition, only slaves have collars.

Charmain Lockwood enters the Great room. The woman has blond hair pulled into two tight buns that look like panda ears. Her eyes are an odd blend of colors with X shaped pupils. The woman has on a pink overcoat that reaches to the floor and is held together down the front by a good number of crisscrossing straps and buckles. It doesn't seem to have any sleeves though, leaving one to wonder how she does anything with her arms inside her coat. On her back is a large cross, strapped on for ease of carrying. She pauses as she enters the room. I can sense the presence of some evil specter at work in here. And I see by all of your faces that it has been causing negative emotions to run rampant. Do not fear. For I shall cleanse this place, as per my duties as this organizations head priest of His Most Holy Lord. How kind of her. A bit less kind when one takes into account that she has been living here for over a month, eating the food and using the facilities without so much as a single real exorcism since her first day. Hasn't even been offering guidance as a spiritual leader. Just kind of lazing around.

[The Bushranger]

Quinn gives Tobias a grateful glace, even as she reaches out in turn to try to hug Misaki to her side....
And nods.
She's not a catperson, though, Butler. She's a wonderful, beautiful young woman who is independent and free.
She'll slip one arm around Tobias' waist and the other around Misaki's shoulders and squeeze them both, if she can.

The newcomer just gets an odd look before she looks back at Butler.

That would explain that part at least. "I see sir. Why is that sir?"

Butler looks back at Quinn. "Umm... she isn't ma'am? I'm pretty sure she changed into one just recently ma'am." He's still scared of Quinn.

Butler ignores the exorcist.

Misaki is hugged to Quinn, but she's still all confused and mixed up inside.

Collars are a traditional symbol of control. When you put a collar and leash on somebody, you can control their actions. We don't like that. Misaki was born a human, a free girl who controls her own actions. Despite some sick punk twisting her, she's a human, not a catgirl. He looks around, mentally starting the clock until security shows up.

"Gah. I'm never going to get used to this world." Sunny sighs. "Yes, if you could check out her mind and see what she remembers. Maybe it will make the decision easier."

[Greatroom]

Decker comes hopping into the room on one foot, over to Butler.

[Greatroom]

"But... catpeople control their own actions too sir."

Then he goes and insults Adam. He likes Adam! Adam is nice! That and they keep repeatedly implying that somehow being a catperson is being less than human. This starts to get on his nerves. "And what's wrong with being a catperson sir? I'm a catperson sir. And I'm just as free and in control of my actions and happy as any human sir."

Decker gets a small nod.

A beautiful young woman, with flowing black hair walks into the Great Room, looking around as if this is her first time here.

Quinn smiles at Charity, then heads off and into Continuity!

(Now)

Quinn decides to let Tobias deal with explaining Life, the Universe, and the number 42 to Butler, lest her emotions get away from her again.

Still hugging both Tobias and Misaki tightly, she looks at the newcomers curiously.

Oh no, I agree with you there. His voice is calm and fairly pleasant. My problem isn't that she was changed into a catperson, it's that she was changed at all. She was born a human girl, and she shouldn't change that without talking it over with Quinn or her mother first.

Quinn has to answer Butler herself: Maybe catpeople wear collars - my daughter doesn't!

Miss Lockwood starts her business of performing a simple exorcism, regardless off the various non-reactions she got. This mostly involves sprinkling water about the room and saying some bland prayer. Her arms slide out of sleeves that were invisible against the rest of her pink overcoat a minute ago. She lights a stick of incense and waves it about a bit, then claps her hands together and smiles at another successful ritual. There doesn't seem to be any notable change in the room. No doubt the spirits she dealt with are far to subtle for the untrained to detect. This room is cleansed. Blessing be upon you all. I shall add the expenses to my tab. I'm pretty sure she was told coming in that there would be no payment for her "services." <.< >.> Oh well.

[Reinholdt]

"Now hold up sir. You just said she was free and in control of her actions sir. Now you say she has to have someone else approve her actions sir. Which is it sir? Is she free or not sir?"

Butler doesn't respond to Quinn. That was his special personal collar. It meant a lot to him.

She's a free woman, but until she's an adult she has to get approval from her parent or guardian. Quinn seems to be calming down a good bit now. Especially for something as...extreme as this.

Charity wanders off to the Rose garden and merges with her other self in the gazebo deadtime.

[Greatroom]

"It's not Butler's fault if you let your hatchling run around unsupervised." Decker says.

Exactly. Tobias, getting really anxious now, nods to Quinn. You can't just have a little girl change her whole life like that. I'm going to have to look over her and make sure she's going to be all right.

[The Bushranger]

Quinn just barely manages to stop herself from going off again at Decker...
Sensing Tobias' anxiety, she squeezes him a little tighter.
And squeezes Misaki too!
And decides to keep her big mouth shut.

Brendan gets glomped with a deadtime ooze, alas.

((5 minutes ))

Misaki is just standing by Quinn, a big old frown on her face, ears and tail drooping a bit.

"Well Misaki said I took care of her too, so that makes me her guardian too, doesn't it ma'am? And she WILL be alright sir. I trust Adam sir. And he's done this lots of times so he knows what he's doing sir." Butler is basing this first bit on their conversation about her real mother.

He doesn't like their attitudes about this at all. Seeing as how it's been attacking him and Adam and all the other catpeople he knows.

This is just stupid. Tobias decides he needs to get out of here before he gets locked up again. He gives Quinn a kiss on the cheek and tries to wildshape to a fox to make a run for the Rose Garden.
