    She nod absently while finnishing her roll. When you enter the shop you see the two men from earlier and coming from the back of the shop a dark haired Gnome who's probably the vendor. He's wearing an overall with lot of parchement and instrument in the various pocket. In his hand you can see four map case. He adresse the two men. "I found four map that could correspond to what you want. Please take a look." Leaving the case on the counter for them to look at he turn toward you. "Welcome to my shop I am Tendelow Bartin what can I do for you ?" Meanwhile the men open the case and began murmuring to each other.

I got a number of them that I can propose, for the land I suppose, I also have a number of seamap, what type of detail, how big an area should it cover ? As for old map the most important question will be how old ? As for Syfal, I'm sorry i don't know that name perhpas your thinking of Dimal a small island to the north of here." Waiting for your response he turn to regard the two men, one of them was looking at you curiously before turning back toward his companion and exchanging a few word.

    Syfal's like the First Binder. The guy who chronicled the first vestiges and how to form pacts, etc. Thought I should've mentioned that in that previous post. Sorry. He's the one that wrote my masterwork tool for Knowledge (the Planes) - Syfal's Treatise on the Beyond!

    I was confused where did that name come from ? Did you just invent it or it is in ToM ? And yes next time if you could be clearer it would be great. On that note if you could list your equipment in detail in your character sheet it would help me a little, mostly for thing like cord, grappling hook, masterwork tool, alchemical item, caltrops that sort of thing. I know it's a bother, I don't like to do it myself but I think it's necessery.
    So anyway i edit my previous post please edit your to reflect that.
    Edit: And you don't hear anything because at the moment they aren't talking.

    The man nod to you and gesture toward the outside of the shop as an indication to talk after they finnished here. Tindelow come back with a few case. "Alright, I found three modern map that correpond to what you want. As for old one I have two one a hundred year old and one, a copy, for the area five hundred year ago. I didn't find anything on Dimal island itself but I have a sea map with the route to reach it. I let you take a look while I finnished with these gentlemen." Tindelow return toward the men.
    The map all look in good condition, of the modern one the first one cover a 150 miles radius with Aloma and part of the coast at the botom, you can see the principal road and city. The second one is smaller but with more detail it cover on ly a 75 miles radius with at least 20 miles of sea indicating reef and beach, on the land the forest are named, a number of small village are indicated with the road leading to them. The third map is bigger than the first but without any scale making it harder to see the distance clearly it's also more decorate but with less inscription.
    On the hundred year all map, when comparing with the first map you don't find much difference appart from a few difference in the size of Aloma and a few missing village.
    The last map, the copy, is in perfect shape you can see a lot of difference for once Aloma was just a small village with no road leading inward and a lot more forest inland. A few named are written most in common indicating the name of the forest or the river but a few other name in language you can't read semmingly in the middle of nowhere.
    Erina is looking at the map curiously, "You're searching for a place in particular ?"
    Meanwhile the men add apprently come to a decision. "We take this one" Tindelow respond "It'll be a hundred gold for that one" The man didn't hesitate and take a bourse from his belt and give it to the gnome. He give a quick look inside before deposeting it on what appear to be a scale. He look attentively at it for a second before noding once. "A pleasure gentlemen, if you need anything else don't hesitate to come back. Have a good day." The second man respond with a smile "You too.". when they pass next to you the first one give you a quick nod indicating the door.

    You can make an int check to see if you remenber the language on the old map, but in any case you can't read it.
    I'm not angry, it as just that when I try to look at it to see if you reference the name somewhere and I didn't see anything. On that note could you repost the link the one I have doesn't seem to be to date.
    On Syfal, I did read that part when first reading the book but for me it was only flavor text so I forget it in favor of the detail on the mechanic.

    Tindelow look at the map and indicated them in turn, "This one is fifty gold" he point the 150 miles map, "This one is forty gold," pointing at the 75 miles one "and this one is also forty gold" for the map without scale. "As for the older model, I can't part with the hundred year old map for less than eighty gold, while the last one is only a copy it's still very valuable I'll say a hundred. Ah and yes the map for Dimal island thirty gold." While he's waiting for your response Erina respond to your earlier question.
    "We don't have any library in town you could perhaps find something at the town hall, but if your really interest in history the best place is the library in the capital, I heard it's huge."

    Yes, kid can easly forget thing like that.

    Yes, you can haggle the price, I forget to mention it in my last post. Don't hesitate to roll for something even if I didn't ask, it speed thing up. After looking at the rule for haggling in complete adventure I decid to ignore them because you would have need to hit a 30 DC minimum and it's ridiculous (plus you would have need a full minute of talkink), you roll will definitively influence any npc you want to haggle with but I'l assign the DC depending on roleplay and the detail of the npc. If your curious in that case it's 20 because he is happy from a very good sell just now and the map isn't particulary rare. Just to be sure we're talking about the 75 miles one ? at forty gold ?

    A few day ago a ask about a list of sourcebook, I know your busy and all but if you manage to post in the OC thread i'll give all the detail I decid upon about you original country in case someone ask you about it or you want to act differently depending on that.

    Erina look at you curiously for a second before nodding "Oh, alright then. Well, if you have finnished shopping we can continue and we should arrive shortly to the grand place. With the town hall and the big temple." She began walking in that direction. After following the street a little more you you see less shop and more residential house, wealthier people live here. Finnaly you arrive in a big place surround big buillding. Contrary to the shopping district you don't see many people around here but the one you see are wearing fancier clothes. The town hall is an impossing looking building with a severe façade. Next to it you so another officila looking buiding. And finally you see three temple next to each other separate only by small street. The temple to neptune is easily recognizable it's the biggest one decorate with the Trident and a lot of marine motif. The temple of Kord is smaller and more open to public with various weapon decorating it. Finnaly the smlest one dedicated to Fharlanghn is still very interesting because he has more color and the people inside look more agitated.
    Erina let you look around a little "Impresive isn't it ? Foreigner are always surprise to see such beautifull building in our small town."

Because we are a small town we nobody can afford to have a guildhall for each profession, so all the different guild have give money to build a big one that they all use one after the other. It's also use for encounter with represent from other town that sort of thing. I've never been inside personnaly." Erina breath a little after that speach before continuing. "So, earlier you mentionned something about history, if you want we can go to the town hall we have the time and they're not much else to see."

    No, they're not agitated in that sense of the word they just move faster or more often the other people on the other temple a more calm or simply discuss in low voice.
    I need to remember one of the most important rule of DMing the player always focused on the wrong thing if he insist a little on any one point.

    At the moment, the only thing I'm wondering about is The Eye's domains and portfolio. Has the god (and his church) always been tyrannical?

    "No, problem." With that Erina guide you toward the hall, on the way you pass by a few people but they ignore you.
    The inside of the hall is a severe as the exterior, past the door you enter a short hall with a desk and a woman is writting on some parchment.
    Erina approche her. "Excuse-me, could you tell us where we can find historical record of the town ?"
    The woman frow a little before responding curtly. "The public record are on the third room to the left in this corridor, ask for Fend." She gesture toward a corridor behind her before returning to her work.
    Erina thank her, before signaling you to follow her. You found the room without any problem, on the way you pass by a number of office with or without people working inside.
    On arriving you find a very big room with row after row of shelves civered with parchment and book. At the center of the room a big table is set and a Elf is busy sorting out a number of document. When hearing you he look up.
    "Yes ?"
    Without waiting for you Erina respond "Are you Fend ? We would like to look at the history of the town."
    "Yes, I'm Fend, I'm a little busy as you can see but tell me what your searching for and I can at least tell you wherre to look."

    That was longuer than excpect.
    As for Eyes his domain are Law, Nobility, Knowledge and Mind, if a cleric want he can also worship one of his subordinate at the same time they each have one domain.
    The Right arm: War, The Left arm : Protection, The Legs: Travel, The Heart: Healing, The Mouth: Charm.
    In effect they worship two deitie and gain one domain from each, but if so they are restrict to their specific branch of the church.
    As for portfolio he has Human, Law, Secret knowledge and Control.

    I hesitate a little before giving you that information, but after thinking about it i decid that it was only fair seeing that you could know about any other god in the setting.

    The God himself doesn't care much about the policy of the church as long as he gain more faithful.
    As I said ten year ago the chruch wasn't as this tyranicall but they always have been pretty controlling.

    "You wont find anything on ancient civilization or precursor here" He said with a grin. "But we do have a number of thing on the foundation of the city. Look at the last shelves on the right and you should be able to find what your searching for." With that he return to his work. Erina thank him before going toward the shelves in question. On this shelves you can see lot of parchment and a few book.

    Okay, now you can make Knowledge check of any type that you think migth be appropriate. You can take 10 or 20 if you have rank in it but it will take more time otherwise just an int check. Erina will do aid another for you once you post your roll and afterward I tell you what you find. Don't exept too much it's a small town.
    You can also make a search check if you want.

    Rolling for Erina first before I post the result.
    Aid another int check: (1d20)[16]
    She rolled well.


    After speding a little less than an hour searching in the shelves you and erina manage to assemble a basic story of the town.
    Aloma was found six hundred year's ago by human fisherman in search of a good place to establish their familly. Three hundred year after that nothing much as change apart from a slow growing of the town, but it was at that point that a warlord decid to unite the various village and small town into a country not everyone was agreable to the change and a number of bloddy battle take place, finnaly after five year of campaign the Warlord Delm had subdued all the dissident and the country of Janeste was born. During these event Aloma surrender peacefully and was spared the worst of the figthing it also become a supply center for Delm. This is why after the end of the campaign and while the Capital was built that Aloma begin really develloping. After that nothing much else happened, of note we can mention the gradual acceptance of all sort of race all around the country and a failled attempted of conquest by Ogre clan from the far West.
    After learning all that Erina comment "Wow, I was born here and I didn't know all that." After a short pause she continue, "I don't know how much time as passed but perhaps we can go now I must prepare for my shift at the Inn ?"

    Aloma history is not that exiting, but I hope you like it.
    Your search check doesn't turn anything special apart from the scroll and book with the history of the town.
