A mason has claimed to me that Fleeing Coward is not one.

If he was mason, he'd just claim outright since there's no difference.
If he isn't a mason (I know he isn't), why would any mason in his right mind message him of all people without a bloody scry?

Purely for argument's sake:
I can see how claiming baner would have been a great idea especially if the Meddler is inactive. Even with an active meddler, it's an exposed baner who have to protect himself which is useless and a doomed one if the meddler is inactive or dead.

All that happened in the game I was in was Cristo would post "Those in the Master Bedroom hear the sound of chains dragging across the ceiling throughout the night, while those in the kitchen witness the disquieting spectacle of the silverware rearranging itself between the drawers..." etc.

There was nothing game-affecting about where you slept (as far as I recall) but this time around Cristo isn't narrating what happens in different areas, so it is possible that where people are sleeping has become more than a RP distinction.

Day 2 Ends

Everyone is on edge as the sun starts to set. Two people are already gone, at least one of them is dead for certain, and no one is willing to be the third. The trouble he caused yesterday catches up with one person, and it becomes clear that it's going to be his head in the noose.

But this one is more aware than the others, and he can see the glint of a pistol concealed in the jacket of a nearby woman. Quicker than most people can blink, he grabs the gun and the woman, using her as a human shield.

I just got out of there, you are not sending me back!

He points the gun at anyone that dares take a step forward. It would be a standoff, if not for the other armed people in the crowd, one of whom is a sharpshooter by trade...

There is no dramatics, no defiant cries of "Shoot him" from the hostage, just one loud report and the man falls over, bleeding some sort of black ichor from a wound on his head.

It is clear that it is not blood, and that this man is not human.

The woman takes a few steps backwards, away from the body.

...and it soon becomes clear that he is also not dead. He lurches up with the gun in hand and fires into the crowd several times before the rest of the crowd finishes him off. There are a few wounds in the crowd, but none fatal.

You chose to kill Fleeing Coward. He was a Fear.

The body of the Fear begins to dissolve into the ground, leaving behind a few random trinkets: keys, pens, and a dictaphone. Full of morbid curiousity, someone turns it on:

"Wednesday 4th June, around 10.30am. I have gained entrance to the manor, and stand now in the shadows cast in it's darkened hallway. Already I feel the spirits here, and the horrors that lie behind the walls and in its hidden depths. I will begin a search of the manors ground floor rooms, continuing my commentry when done."


He was a victim once, just like you, maybe even working for escape and freedom, just like you are.

Night falls and shadows hide the stain of the late Fear, but not the ones on your hands.

Night 2 begins now and ends in approximately 24 hours. Please send all night actions to myself and Shadowcaller.

Should anyone wish to change rooms, this is the time to do so. You can only move into a room that is not already filled.

Down to brass tacks. Things that need to target Reinholdt tonight:

A scry, to verify that he isn't another wolf
A bane so he doesn't die
A meddle so the Devil can't make the scry interference, and so he isn't silenced. A network center that can't talk isn't much better than a dead one. (I think that's how that works, anyway.)

We very well may get only one shot at this. Showtime!

God Damn it! This was a damn nightmare, kidnapped, trapped, and now shot. Blood leaked through Claire's uniform on the left side. It was just a glancing hit, but it had torn a hole through her flesh, and it stinged like all hell. This wasn't a game. That thing hadn't been human, it was some fake sack of black goo. For the first time in the two days she'd spent in this damn mansion she thought of the message she'd heard when she arrived, perhaps it wasn't all bull after all. Well that took the cake, these freaks were shooting her and they weren't even human. What kind of hell had she stumbled into?

Claire felt faint, that wound must've taken more out of her than she expected. She stumbled, then headed off towards the kitchen, perhaps she could find something there, scissors or something to prepare a dressing. At the very least there should be food, something to stave off this weakness.
