Yeah, it does... weird, how Dr. Bath thought of that so quickly. (He probably knows Mr. Pibb, and Doctor Pepper!)

Re: Shadow's Shady Shop of Sharks, Shingles, Shammies, Shiny and Random Banter #129
The relevant portion is here.
SpoilerIn the United States, Dr Pepper Snapple Group does not have a complete network of bottlers and distributors, so the drink is sometimes bottled under contract by Coca-Cola or Pepsi bottlers. Prior to the initial Cadbury Schweppes investment-turned-buyout, 30% of Dr Pepper/Seven Up products were produced and distributed by Pepsi bottlers, and another 30% by Coca-Cola bottlers. The remaining 40% was produced and distributed by independent bottlers (mainly consisting of pre-Dr Pepper/Seven Up-merger regional bottlers) and the Dr Pepper/Seven Up Bottling Group.
Presently, Dr Pepper Snapple relies on its own bottling group to bottle and distribute its products in 30+ states. Coca-Cola and Pepsi have essentially stopped bottling and distributing CSAB products in favor of in-house alternatives, although regional exceptions can be found.
In Canada and Poland, Cadbury-Schweppes has licensed distribution rights to PepsiCo. In Mexico, Germany, France, Sweden, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Finland, Austria, Czech Republic, Belgium, and Norway, Cadbury-Schweppes owns the trademark and distributes the product. In Spain, Turkey, and Greece it is almost impossible to find as it is usually imported from the United Kingdom in particular supermarkets. In almost all of the other countries of the world, The Coca-Cola Company purchased the trademark from Cadbury-Schweppes and distributes the product. This mixed worldwide ownership of the trademark is due to antitrust regulations which prevented Coca-Cola from purchasing the rights everywhere. Dr Pepper is also available in Japan and South Korea. Although not locally bottled in Australia or New Zealand, Dr Pepper is imported and sold by USA Foods, and many other small retailers in Australia. Dr Pepper is not available in Thailand, Philippines, Italy and Russia.

Re: Shadow's Shady Shop of Sharks, Shingles, Shammies, Shiny and Random Banter #129
^_^
I wish that was true in real life. Of my RL friends (that are girls. Guys do proper man-hugs), one won't hug me anymore (I think I offended her religion), one doesn't like physical contact, and one I only just met, so we don't hang out enough to snuggle. v.v
Ah, well. *hugs lots*
EDIT: Born and raised in Georgia. That said, in order of amount, I am of German, Cuban, Italian, and Spaniard ancestry. Since my dad is an immigrant, I get the faintest of accents from him sometimes, and weird grammar, and traditional food, and sometimes, traditional attitudes. Does that explain?Last edited by Cobra_Ikari; 2009-09-21 at 01:29 PM.

Also, I think the official consensus is that one week is seven days. Just sayin'.

Oh, well, if you were just talking about the length of a week, well, I can't help you there. I imagine some Roman guy who's dead, or possibly a Mesopotamian or Egyptian sort.
I thought you were talking about the Week in particular.

We could make it a baker's week. That's 8 days.

...Why do Bakers get a longer week? And a bigger dozen? And cool hats? And all the chicks?

Re: Shadow's Shady Shop of Sharks, Shingles, Shammies, Shiny and Random Banter #129
I know the ancient Mesopotamians were responsible for our hour/minute/second divisions as well as the number of degrees in a circle and probably the number of months in a year, because they were very fond of the number six and multiples of six, so I'm guessing if they had to do with first two they probably had a hand in the third as well.
The week is from the Bible. DUH.
No, but in seriousness - seven has been a number of religious significance for thousands of years. So even if the Romans took the week from Genesis (I'm assuming it was the Romans, but I guess it was probably Judaic) they were following a long and storied tradition involving the number seven.
Edit: Vic: The baker's dozen is larger than the regular dozen because medieval bakers were highly respected but the penalties for cheating their customers were very severe. So they went out of their way to not cheat customers and I guess the baker's dozen evolved therefrom.
Edit 2: I'm shooting my mouth off with all these facts off the top of my head and I really hope I'm not totally misguided.Last edited by Dragonrider; 2009-09-21 at 01:41 PM.

Mostly wrong. Dr. Pepper is a Coca-Cola product in Europe only. Over here in America it was formerly owned by Cadbury. Yes, the same people who make cream eggs.
Also, MATHS-NESS IS HORRIBLE-NESS!

So many facts... this is hardly Random Banter at all!
And why is no-one blaming the Aliens for the Bakers Dozen? Does the world make no sense any more?

Re: Shadow's Shady Shop of Sharks, Shingles, Shammies, Shiny and Random Banter #129
The other tale I've heard is that they always ended up with a bit of dough after making a dozen whatevers so made a 13th one with the leftovers. Another is that the extra one was for testing to make sure all the bread in the oven was cooked without ruining one. Which of these is true (or if they are all bullock carts) I don't know.
