it's alright every once in a while...
but I see it sort of like vitamin pills or medication... se 'em in moderations, as overdoses will kill it for ya.

Futurama manages to get an original spin on most situations. They even managed to get an Ancient Egyptian episode in there...

No, but they did Ancient Egypt in a Sci-Fi setting, and made it funny. For isntance, the reason there are Ancient Egyptians in space is because they visited the Ancient Egyptians, who taught them their culture, how to build Pyramids, space travel, and how to prepare their dead.
And they managed to keep it funny for the whole episode.

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
that's nice.
my only point though was to say that ultimately, nothing is "original".
everything has been done before somewhere.
and on that note, my comic has probably been done somewhere...
but oh well. I'm also doing it here, and shameless advertising certainly isn't original.

Of course it's been done before!
...In your fanfiction series that it's based off of.
And if you think you're the first to base a comic off of something you've already written, well...
...You're not.

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
The Curly One is most pleased. Her funding details came through, finally.
Plus she's planned out and written about a quarter of an essay that isn't due in until the second week of term.
Technically, she could have done it earlier, but what with an astronomical lack of any books that could help her (aside from ones on her reading list) she felt it would lack things.
But her favourite aunt came visiting today! And things were happy! She will miss her aunts and uncles when she goes. Not so much the cousins as she's *sigh* the nineth youngest out of around thirty five to forty grandchildren.
Go me.

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
family reunions with tons of cousins are so much fun...
I've got like 44 cousins on one side, and 29 on the other side (and a few others--long story)
so all in all, I learned that I have about 77 cousins."The Mormons were right."

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
On my mum's side (not in chronological order) we have:
Uncle [namless] - stillborn
Aunt H (+ husband, two children (plus two cousins - in - law) and one granddaughter, another on the way)
Uncle C (+ wife (divorced, but still auntie) and two children (+ spouses) + two ex - girlfriends - one of whom had a child. And he has two grandchildren)
Uncle S (bachelor, no children)
Uncle R (+ wife, no children)
Aunt K (+ husband, three children (+ two spouses) and three grandchildren)
Uncle B (+ wife (divorced, but see above) and one son)
Aunt J (+ husband, three children (one of whom is married, so a cousin - in - law) and a granddaughter)
Uncle E (bachelor)
One other whose name I always forget (+ partner and three children (and a spouse))
Mum
On my dad's side (not in chronological order) we have:
Aunt C (+ husband (divorced) and four children (one fiancee))
Uncle J (+ wife (divorced) and two children - or is it three?)
Aunt K (+ first husband (now divorced) and three children (+ two spouses) and a grandchild or two + econd husband)
Uncle A (deceased) (+wife and two children (+ partner) + wife's second husband and a child)
Aunt I (+ husband and five children (+ four spouses/partners) and three grandchildren)
Uncle Someone Else Whose Name I've Forgotten (+ wife and two children)
And some more.
This doesn't include great - aunts and uncles and their children and grandchildren.
Taking that into account my Gradpa is one of thirteen children. Gran is one of seven. Granddad is one of nine. Granny was one of ten. So yeah.
So the list, not including those I can't remember comprises of thirty aunts and uncles, including divorced spouses and two deceased uncles. Or cousins I've forgotten about and their partners and children. Or just people I've forgotten about.
Our grandparents are very happy, overblessed with grandchildren and are great - grandparents many times over.
Weddings are a blast. Once we had a traditional church wedding with Bride's family on one side, Groom's on the other; we overflowed our side and had to sit on the Groom's side.
The Groom had a small family. I believe he only had three or four aunts and uncles all told. Poor man.
EDIT:
@^: Wow, that's a really small family. How does that work? But we don't do family reunions as we most of us live very close by. The only maor gatherings are weddings and funerals.Last edited by CurlyKitGirl; 2009-10-02 at 11:57 AM.

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
I've given up trying to figure out how many peope are related to me. At last count, I think half of Scotland...
My {Paternal} Grandparents had heaps of brothers and sisters each, and so my family is huge, not even counting my mothers side, which is pretty big as well...
All I know is, my family overuses the name "George". I'm related to at least four Georges...

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
I have two uncles and one female relative who I would not like to acknowledge. I have cousins on my dad's side of the family, although I have several second cousins on my mum's side.
Copying Curly's format to show detail:
Dad's side
Uncle S (bachelor, no children)
Uncle M (+ wife, one child)
Aunt C (unmarried, do not want to acknowledge)Yet another Touhou fan in the playground.

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
Mom's side
Uncle J (+ wife, 2 children)
Uncle B (+ wife)
Aunt K (+ husband, 1 adopted child)
Dad's side
Aunt S (+ 2 children, 3 grandchildren)
Aunt J (+ husband, 1 child (+ wife))
Aunt C (+ husband, 1 child)
Aunt A (+ 1 child)
With my 2 remaining grandparents and my family of 4, that's a decent amount of people. Both of my mom's parents were only-children, I don't know much about my father's parents sadly.

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
Man I have a lot of family. When my Great Grandma died we had to have a police escort to stop traffic so we could get to the burial plot.
Keep in mind that was the amount of people who showed up with less than a week's notice
I think I'm related to about 1/4th of the state and my Grandma knows about 1/2. We are like bunnies. It's kind of crazy.Last edited by Hell Puppi; 2009-10-02 at 08:25 PM.

Actually, the way my bathroom lights flicker is just like something out of a horror movie. Especially if I look creepy in the mirror while they're flickering.
Family?
On my dad's side, I have my granny, uncle, and a great uncle and great aunt.
On my mum's side, two uncle/aunt pairs, each with two children, one married in each case. One of my cousins has a son, possibly two.
That's all of them I've metknow of, minus the dead grandparents. (Correction - I haven't actually met my male cousin's wife, I just know she exists)Last edited by Thufir; 2009-10-02 at 08:34 PM.

Woohoo!
Why did I just woohoo? I have nothing to woohoo about. It's 7am, I've had 5 hours sleep (about half of what I normally get at the weekend) and my only light source right now is a lamp, because if my parents find out that I'm up, I will be shot at dawn.
Anyone got any tips to help me sleep... preferably tips that don't require me to leave my room.Last edited by Fredthefighter; 2009-10-03 at 12:55 AM.

Hmm, I usually just lay in bed and think about a colour. Usually blue or black, and I just concentrate on seeing that colour, and making my mind/mood/body match it (I try to match blue with being relaxed and black with deep sleep). I don't know if that makes any sense at all, since I naturally think in colours and most people don't, as far as I can tell.
Query: How do you think? In colours, words, emotions or something else? How do you visualise different things? How about people? My preferred pronouns: they, them, their

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
I hadn't thought about it until about a year ago, when a close friend commented on the fact that I would often talk about things' colours, like 'That tastes very orange.' or 'He looks kinda grey today, I wonder what's wrong.'
It was then that I realised thinking of everything in terms of a colour wasn't normal.
I use colour to describe sounds, smells, tastes, moods, personalities, people and places in my head.
One of the reasons that I like talking to people face-to-face is that it allows me to have a better feel for both what colour they are, and what colour their mood is at the moment. Otherwise, if I only communicate with people via text it takes me much longer to get a sense of them, and it's not as detailed as I would like.
For instance, one of my close friends is a foresty green with little cobalt flecks, but people that I know via the internet usually only have a general colour, like 'green' or 'yellow'.My preferred pronouns: they, them, their

Sounds a lot like how Constable Angua sees things in the Discworld novels. Which is pretty cool.
And I just found a quiz about "What colour" my personality is.
Apparently I'm Orange.
Orange: You are loyal and kind.. you rarely lie.. and our sincere to your peers... you also love animals and times when you are somewhere beautiful.
2) Rarely lie? Yes, that is me.
3) Sincere to my peers.... I'll get back to you on that.
4) Love animals. Yes
5) Who doesn't love beautiful places? This avatar pierces the heavens and is by Miss Nobody!SpoilerOriginally Posted by Anuan

Huh, I hadn't thought about it being like Angua, but I suppose in some ways it might be a bit.
I have some suspicions that I may have synaesthesia, which would be kinda cool.
I just took that quiz thingie and...
PURPLE: You are into different things then most people, and always think out of the box. You're sweet but a little evil in your own way.
Well, that was...non-descriptive to the max. I have the feeling that whoever wrote that quiz is trying to make everyone feel special.
