Gotta say, Carchy is more Chewtoy than Takeshi in my (perhaps biased) opinion. I mean, the guy has a hell of a lot of "emotional pain" as well as, and perhaps y'know because of, being horrifically tortured throughout his entire life.

If Ran had emotional damage as a boost to power, the various faction heads would have a serious threat on their hands. That said, I'm sorry to say that Takeshi does not even come close. He and his brother have gone toe to toe, with neither one attempting a killing blow, how many times now? A sibling spat, and a brief relationship ending, don't measure up to Ran's childhood going up in literal flames, killed parents, a mostly emotionally inert adopted parent, the brutally militant upbringing she had him endure, and the literally vital responsibilities prematurely dumped in his lap. If anything, it's a toss up between Carch and Mia in terms of Espada member emotional baggage.

Feh, Shiru seems to have a long history of emo-able events in his life too. Between a Captain/Mentor that went mentally AWOL and being physically responsible for the highest in-game innocent npc kill count, it's hard to think of anyone who can compete. I suppose the entire 5th has the whole betrayal/stigma thing going for them... *shrug*

Also, back to Espada for a bit. Kinezumi is Von Geister's chew toy as well. Why, I just want a chance to post the following line.

I had forgotten about Tsukami's rounds of fun and games with Hans, and Siegfried's ordeal with Giriko. Actually, he and Shirubaru should invite Mejiri to join the club of VCs betrayed by their mentors.

-and yes, Kine is Ersch's personal chew toy. So I suppose that puts him on a similar level to Carch, with Mia pulling up behind the pair.

Edit: I just noticed yet another 12th squad quirk. Even numbered seats only have one name beginning with K, whereas both names begin with K for those with odd numbered seats.
