What race would you make Zathras from B5?

I was thinking of having a recurring NPC in my d&d game based on Zathras from Babylon 5. The real question is what race should I him/them. I was thinking shifter but they just don't feel right to me.

No, no. Zathras wouldn't work as a shifter. You're thinking of Zathras. Zathras would be better as some sort of Underdark race. Unless you mean Zathras, in which case it would be totally different.

Zathras does not have race. Zathras does not need race. Zathras feels that race has already been won. Or lost. Either way, Zathras knows that this...is wrong tool.
