You should feel bad, but you don't...
Every once in a while, we all do things which in the back of our head we think "man, you shouldn't feel good about this"... yet you ignore it through selfishness, happiness, or just plain old ambivilance
thread rules:
1) These must be things you've actually done... not things you're planning to do
2) Nothing trivial. Insignificant actions do not good story make
3) They must be LEGAL both in terms of the laws of your country, the US (where this board is based) and the boards code of conduct... bit of a no brainer - but needs stating every once in a while
4) If you feel guilty, you've kinda failed. No posting for you.
Apparently CE is alive and well
so i'll start
Today i joined another band. Im joining as replacement for their rythum guitarist. He doesn't know he's being replaced. I should feel bad, but i don't...

Re: You should feel bad, but you don't...
I get obsessed with musical artists/bands. Not stalker-obsessed, but memorize-the-wikipedia-article-and-watch-every-single-interview-on-YouTube obsessed. And my taste isn't always that highbrow, either. My two biggest obsessions are Barenaked Ladies and Cat Stevens, both of whom are fairly cerebral, but lately it's been Mika. In addition to wasting hours finding out about the singers, I also listen to their music nonstop and become obsessed with collecting their entire discography.
...
I know. I live life on the edge.

Re: You should feel bad, but you don't...
I tend to have an overactive conscience. I do have a friend who is a psychopath though, so he doesn't have any guilt.
Generally I feel guilty over things that I shouldn't, not the other way around.

Re: You should feel bad, but you don't...
I befriended someone online and posed as a 24 year old who lived in the middle of nowhere and continued to keep up the charade for a year and a half. I've recently apologized and feel much better.
On a more satisfying note, I totally wrecked a bastard who deserved it a few years ago. Have since then squashed it (bad) attempts at girlfriends.Avatar by Dihan

Hey, I've been the person doing the band replacing before. Not the happiest moment when you tell your friend he hasn't progressed at all on drums in months. Luckily that wasn't for my band, rather one I was asked to start up.

Re: You should feel bad, but you don't...
I'm having a similar issue: I'm thinking too deep into the situations and I'm not a lawyer so I have no idea if what I did was legal or not. Technically, I could get sued for anything I've done so that means everything is illegal. Why did you make this question so difficult?

probably just the weird stuff I've told customers at Sonic (I work there, and so taking orders is part of daily routine).
funny crap, especially "welcome to hell, this is Lucifer, may I take your order?", but not stuff that I should be laughing at...

Sadly, I can't think of anything that's totally legal either.
All that I say applies only to myself. You author your own actions and choices. I cannot and will not be responsible for you, nor are you for me, regardless of situation or circumstance.

Re: You should feel bad, but you don't...
I ditched out on a blind date once. The girl only sent me one picture, which apparently was very old and very blurry. She was wearing about a pound of makeup, was drenched in some perfume that smelled like my grandmother, and was probably about 100 lbs overweight. Worst thing, according to her plans for the date, we were supposed to catch a ferry ride for a whole day on an island. I ended up excusing myself to the bathroom at the pier, called my buddy and asked him to call me back in a minute. I walked out of the bathroom and as sure enough, my phone rang. I picked it up, and in a really loud voice said "What? You can help me pick my new couch up? Oh? You have time now, but you can't do it tomorrow? Sounds good, I'll see you in 30 minutes." I then, as gracefully as possible bowed out of the date.
I was hanging out with the buddy at some later point when she started texting me, asking how the couch pick up went. I told her it was great, and I was just about to become involved with some group "adult activities" with my buddy and his fiance, and asked her if she wanted to join in. She declined, and I never heard from her again.
I should probably feel sorry for her, and feel bad for lying to her and saying those things...but it still makes a funny story to tell!

Re: You should feel bad, but you don't...
This, I think, doesn't involve any swear-words, at least, and isn't illegal...
I accidentally-on-purpose left a note calling my ex's new girlfriend a "bow-legged whore" in big scribbled letters on the kitchen table. It's kinda embarassing and petty, I know, but it just felt so... apt.

Re: You should feel bad, but you don't...
I prefer nicking the "Bury her in a Y-shaped coffin" line from Blackadder, myself.
While I regret leaving my ex-boyfriend the way I did, other people. . .entangled themselves in the mess. I couldn't've planned that outcome any better than the emotional train wreck which followed. Does being a catalyst count?
I'm impressed. Not only is my response verboten by board rules, it was actually too short to post.Last edited by Quincunx; 2009-10-15 at 07:12 AM. Reason: active voice

Re: You should feel bad, but you don't...
Serpentine, you remind me of my wife
I'm sure I've had several of these moments, especially when I was modding for a major game developer's official web community. Their new Community Manager was a bit of a flake, so I had to pull the weight to make things interesting on top of my standard staff duties.
Included:
-Playing with the censor tools so that all "members" became "banned", or something more hilarious.
-Censoring all instance of wildcard *, so that the entirety of the community became whatever inane phrase popped up that moment. A proud tradition that continues to this day.
-Banning perfectly innocent members indefinitely, with a stern ban warning detailing just how they deserved this horrible punishment and that they should never show their face around there again. Then unbanning them five minutes later, and watching their shaking hands type out how frightening that was in the general chat thread.
I had fun

Re: You should feel bad, but you don't...
Laughing when I watched a little year 7 get threatened with a detention because he was mucking around with the year 12s, he had been bundeled up in rope (as it was the 12s last day, it was all in good fun) but the school has a very strict policy, ONLY the 12s are allowed to take part in the fun. And thus this kid was left to try and untie him self until some one else came to help.
He cried!
And it really was EXTREMELY funny.
...
I am not a good person.

Re: You should feel bad, but you don't...
Serpy, I love you. Really.
My ex's ex (uncomplicate that yourself) was a real slut-puppy. (My ex was bi, so her ex was a girl. No hate there.) She cheated CONSTANTLY, then stalked us for a while after we started dating. So I got a buddy of mine who works at the police station to dig up her personal info - photos, address, phone numbers, vehicle info, etc. I made a fake profile on...several dating, social, and "adult" sites. And was kind enough to share that info with the Internet world. Oh yeah, and I posed as her, popped online every now and then to chat with perfect strangers and tell them to call between 3 and 4 AM, when I got out of work at the strip club.
...and you know what? I don't feel bad about it at all.
Dirky by Beans!Officially putting in for an extended leave of absence.
