OOC: No fire-damage from grabbing? Good. That was the thing I was afraid of; figured it's my easiest route tho since Dwarf-like = Stable (no Trip) and some sort of special race + scale mail + shield = AC (probably natural armor, dex AND armor-bonuses).

OOC: Let me try to clarify this: Akon has surprise, Partial Charges Azer, successfully grapples. Akon won Initiative, but you mess up and post its turn first. Akon uses grapple-check to deal damage (needs to be opposed by Azer's grapple-check). Then Azer attempts Unarmed Strike and misses. Is this correct thus far?

Taking freedom to check its stats, that thing has obscene AC for level 2. Akon can't reach those numbers without a Tower Shield and he's got a feat and a half invested in AC!

Glad I picked the tactic I did. Standard attacks using Slam + Extreme Steel Shield would've probably been more advantageous strictly speaking, but would've made this last for-friggin'-ever.

Yeah, it's a pretty nasty level 2 encounter....as is the ape. It's really amazing how much ECL varies even at this level. That was definitely the fastest way of taking him down.

On to loot, his gear of course, an onyx worth 60 GP, and a blue quartz worth 12 GP.

Since the equipment is mostly worthless, Akon will just ignore it, picking up the valuables. I'm a bit confused as to where exactly I am and seem to be unable to retrace myself; could I get a map of some sort?

Rusted, huh? Mechs don't like acid. Akon will caaarefully search the surroundings and the box itself for anything bothersome (take 20 for 24) and roll every variety of Knowledge on the planet if he finds something.
