Re: Rpgsr4me's Ravenous, Roaring, Raging Rampage of Random Banter #134
So, it's actually managed to get pretty dang cold down here in Texas, and weather forecasts are saying a chance for snow tonight and tomorrow. I'm really hoping we get enough so that I don't have to go to school in the morning, I really don't want to wake up in the morning (having parents who work 4/10's so you don't have to use alarm clocks on Fridays is awesome).

Yeah, they're saying we could get up to two inches. They mentioned that the last bit of snow accumulation we had in Austin was one inch. In 1985.

Re: Rpgsr4me's Ravenous, Roaring, Raging Rampage of Random Banter #134
Don't worry about it. If there is any snow at all, they will cancel school. Heck they cancel school for ice in Texas. That's part of what makes us so great. Anyways, they are saying three to five inches of snow for us tomorrow. I'm excited. I haven't seen that much snow since we moved from Chicago 18 years ago.

Re: Rpgsr4me's Ravenous, Roaring, Raging Rampage of Random Banter #134
That actually makes more sense than canceling for just a ton of snow. Snow you can clear out pretty easily with enough plows working early enough. Probably the best you'll get if the snow isn't just coming in a blizzard-y drove is a couple hours delay at best.
Ice though...oh god you do NOT want to be on the road when there is ice. Fast moving object minus Traction equals NOT GOOD.

Re: Rpgsr4me's Ravenous, Roaring, Raging Rampage of Random Banter #134
haha ain't that the truth...
I've had my van autmatically activate its own traction system just pulling out of my driveway [revving the car up and going instantly from 0-20 doesn't help, especially on a dirt road]
and on that note, now there's a little sign that says "repair traction" xD"The Mormons were right."

Steampunk'd computers. Some of these photos have bounced around a bit already, but others I hadn't seen before. My personal favorite is the "rolltop" desktop.

The Datamancer stuff I'd seen before. A couple of his keyboards are on display in the steampunk exhibition in the Museum of History of Science in Oxford.

Re: Rpgsr4me's Ravenous, Roaring, Raging Rampage of Random Banter #134
There's a guy up here calls himself Professor Whovianart. Bit of a strange fellow. He builds, collects and sells steampunk type things, amongst other stuff. I bought an hourglass from him. It's got a nice brass case, and times half an hour per turn.

Lol, I live in Saskatchewan, the roads are icy all winter, you can't not drive on is. On that note there is a really nasty corner when I enter town that if your going faster than 20 km/h you'll slip like crazy. ts terrible.
