Insanowar 10: Here we go again!
Welcome to the Insanowar!
Da Rules:
Spoiler1.) There are five players, each of which represent a commander of their army.
2.) Each player takes turns choosing some powerful character, semi-powerful group of characters, or large mob of expendable non-characters from any sort of media. Examples: The TMNTs, a Dreadnought from 40K, a mob of kobolds.
3.) When each player has 10 selections, the game begins.
4.) A map will be provided showing the layout of the battlefield. Each person will have a base of operations with which they can wage war. Note that each base is about 2 turns away from each other.
5.) A static turn order is established. In each turn, the player dictates what their troops are doing, as far as the opponent can see. Secret actions need not be reported (although it is good sportsmanship to give hints as to what your are planning).
6.) When troops engage, the person whose turn the engagement took place on decides the outcome, which will usually NOT be all one way. If there is any friendly dispute (and the dispute WILL be friendly, or else), other players/playgrounders chime in with their opinions. If no consensus is reached, it's a 50/50 slaughter.
7.) The winner is the one who wins.
Da Guidelinez:
Spoiler1.) You can't choose anyone TOO powerful. No gods, demigods, anything like that. Make it something that's about the same power level as the other troops on the field.
2.) Don't be a jerk. The objective here is to have fun--frankly, who wins and who loses is pretty arbitrary anyway. This game is definitely straddling the line between Silly and Structured.
3.) Respect Awesomeness. If a player is pulling off something that's just too awesome to believe, that should aid his victory.
4.) Enjoy yourself. Seriously, guys.
Okay, you have until January the 1st to sign in. People with proven reserved slots get in first, then the others get in in the order they signed up.

What counts as a reserved slot? I have a post on the central thread expressing interest, and would like to join.

Re: Insanowar 10: Here we go again!
Yea, just to ask people to be forgiving of the bad spelling and grammer of my early post in this game, my p.c broke and I'm posting from my google phone (which, alas, is missing a spell and grammer check). I do suffer from dyslexia if that will help you forgive me. This will also mean I will edit my post a lot but will try not to change it in any signifcant way, just to make it make more sense. If this is a big prob let us know and I will drop out

Re: Insanowar 10: Here we go again!
Do you particularly mind in which order we pick our teams? 'cause I have my first pick ready now, and in the previous games it was usually best to move this stage along as fast as we could, so we could get into the game.
If there's no objections, I'll take:

I guess it's okay doing that. Just don't post your next two until everyone has their first one.
I'm going with Wracktail from Super Paper Mario.

Re: Insanowar 10: Here we go again!
I might take Q, during his phase as a human (yes, I linked to the right page). Quick question: does his incredible knowledge extend to knowing one heck of a lot about all of his opponents? I may change it otherwise.

I'd imagine that the knowledge would mean that he'd know about their abilities, and any well known facts about them, but not more than that, unless they were from his universe.

Re: Insanowar 10: Here we go again!
Good, that is about the level that I was expecting. As to my third pick... let's take Jack West Jr. and his team. I suppose getting the Halicarnassus too would be a bit much?

Re: Insanowar 10: Here we go again!
Alright, for my next two picks, I'll take:
Spoiler2. Professor X, from X-Men. He's a powerful telepath, as well as an ingenious scientist. I won't be abusing his telepathy much, and it's likely he'll be a highly toned down version instead of that from the wiki.
3. Jack Cayman, from the game Madworld.
He's a guy with a chainsaw for an arm. An ex-marine, so it should be assumed that he's skilled in the use of guns as well as close-range weaponry.Avatar by Me!

Re: Insanowar 10: Here we go again!
It's a really, really big plane, with ridiculous amounts of firepower. I'm calling no on it, as there's already a team of highly skilled soldiers.

Re: Insanowar 10: Here we go again!
I'd like to take Rumo from Rumo by Walter Moers and a ragtag band of forest fighters ( a centaur, a pixie, a satyr, and a dryad).
Is that a viable choice? If not, I can replace it easily.
EDIT:
Rumo
yes that is the DND version.Last edited by BishFish; 2009-12-31 at 02:35 PM.

Re: Insanowar 10: Here we go again!
My next three picks... hmmm.
How about:
1: One fully functional Borg drone.
2: The Halicarnassus (same series as Jack West et. al.)
3: A bio-weapon, complete with some poor chump to wear it for me and programming to obey my orders. If I creep into your house in the dead of night and strangle you while you sleep, you probably messed up your grammar.
