Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
Thanks all. Decided to go with the eye glow. Fangs looked strange, red skin was too devilhorns/tail, and the shadow thing sounds like it'd be a pain to do. I really only shade when I can be bothered.
Turned a random script I have into a comic to test some stuff. *shrugs*

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
Needs bigger gutters and paneling that contrasts with the content.
(Also, in the dark panels (3, 6, 7, 10) it's impossible to make anything out. Adding a back glow as outline for objects might help there.)Last edited by Domochevsky; 2011-07-30 at 07:10 PM.

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
I know about the panels/gutters, just never made a pattern/template I like yet. So I'm sticking with normal straight edge black lines/boxes for now. Also, the not being able to make anything out in those panels is intentional since I can't give the creature an actual outline. Because it isn't just something with a physical form hiding in the dark. It is the dark*.
And since those panels are zoomed in pretty close, you can't really see much background wise. But once I get the panels worked out it should be fine.
*Well, that sounds cliche. It's more like.. an aura that hibernates until a light source is brought into it's territory. At which point it attempts to extinguish said light, and spread itself over the previously lit area before going back to sleep. Look, it doesn't have to make sense, okay.
But yeah.Last edited by Tiffanie Lirle; 2011-07-30 at 08:00 PM.

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
You could add space between the panels (like in traditional comics), effectively separating them and allowing easier distinction of them.

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
Fixed, I guess. Didn't bother shading yet though, I'm not here to make things look pretty.
Wanted to try out a smaller font. I've always had issues with text and spacing.
Edit- Comic edited out until tomorrow when I can be bothered to "filter" a few bits of text. I've forgotten that profanity isn't allowed in comics here. Which is silly, I guess. But it's a rule so..*shrugs*
You know, despite drawing all these random comics and all lately. I doubt I'm actually ever going to make a comic. I got like, one idea 3 years ago. and I've amassed like 12 huge scripts in my flash folder from it. I've been warping and changing the story, writing one scenario and then the opposite scenario in a different script etc. It never ends.
Which is good, I guess. I like writing stuff for me privately.Last edited by Tiffanie Lirle; 2011-07-31 at 05:32 PM.

Uhm, I think the language there is a little strong for these forums... And the text could use a different font, that one is very pixely and not exactly flowing with the art style.

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
Agreement on the pixelated text. Needs Anti-Aliasing.
(Also: gutters are space between panels. No special pattern to be had there most of the time. )

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
I was in the car and on the road and I looked at the clouds so I could make shapes from them and one looked like this awesome floating castle and it had this bridge that led to something smaller and so I got out my notebook and I drew some pictures and wrote some comic ideas and i'm really excited to get home so I can draw everything and come into this thread and share my ideas with y'all. Read that 5 times without breathing.

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
Well I got a new idea for some small strips 3-4 panel long.
The idea is to take a League of Legends Char and let some reporter ask a question. The chars will then answer this question in a comedical way like this:
Reporter: Ms. Nidale in every game you throw hundreds of spears. Where do you get so many spears?
Nidale: It is only one spear Mr. Reporter. If you know DnD you may have noticed that you can enchant a spear so that he allways returns after it hit the target.
Reporter: but Ms. Nidalle DND doesn't work in league of Legends.
Nidale blush.
Nidale: Oh, damn you got me. I just bought them 1000 for 1 it was a good deal and I hided them all over the map.
Reporter: Well spectators there you see another question to the league of Legends is solved. Please turn on again when we clear why Trynda can't die with his Ultimate.
Well I thought that everyone yould ask questions. The only thing I need would be some help by the text (You may have found a dozen of mistakes) and maybe by the drawing.Grammer is my declared deadly enemy!

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
I just came up with a very interesting idea for a comic, one I got from Darths & Droids. What if the Marvel Cintematic Universe (Iron Man 1 & 2, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, and the many other movies soon to join it including the Avengers, Cap 2, Hulk 2, Thor 2, Iron Man 3, Black Widow, SHIELD, Ant-Man) was a RPG campaign, each one consisting of seperate solo adventures until they all come together in The Avengers?
Thoughts? Is this a crazy idea, or is this a pretty awesome one?

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
*Shrug* Someone has probably already done that for at least one of the movies, but maybe not, but disregarding that, thoughts.
Having all of the characters being from solo campaigns is probably a bad idea. The main draw for these kinds of things is the dialogue between the players and the DM. Keyword, players. I would suggest that instead, you make each movie a different campaign by the same DM, with different players, and the Avengers movie being the DM bringing together all of his favorite players/characters for a big, fun game. Or something.I made comics!
