Excellent, thanks for all the advice. I will get a recruitment thread up and going within the next day or two.
How would I contact Alarra to approve my thread once its up?

PM her if you want. Alternatively, you can just leave it, she doesn't usually take too long to approve the Structured threads.

She did say that if you post here that there's a thread waiting approval, she usually gets to it faster.

Re: WW Central VI: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
You should send her two PMs - one detailing the thread, one asking for permission. An additional, motivational one is optional.
You might also want to remind her about if if it isn't approved right away. Two to three PMs a day work wonders, I hear.
In any case, the more you send, the less you'll wait, but sending more than six per day might be a bit of bad taste, though. In any case, trying won't hurt anyone. Send away!

The Thing has no metagaming or needless out-of-character talk, you cannot pm each other about the game. Should be an interesting contract with most games in which roleplaying is kept to an absolute minimum.
But I'm saving myself for WW X

You know, there's no law preventing you from narrating and playing at the same time

Re: WW Central VI: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
I found narrating to be in some ways less taxing than playing. I didn't have to sit there for ages trying to figure out who was on which side, I just had to resolve the actions according to the rules, which I'd already written.
OK, actually writing the narrations took a bit more thought, but still not too much.
Admittedly I have a freer RL schedule than a lot of people, but still, personally I don't see how some people have so much difficulty with it.

I'm actually gonna agree with Thufir on this one. Sure, there are times when you're short on time, or lazy, or running low on imagination... or all of them But generally, I usually find narrating being easier job than playing.

Re: WW Central VI: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
Yeah. And there's a dirty little secret narrators have - you can recruit players to do some of the work for you, like counting votes or working out who is in danger of autolynch. Heck, I even wrote some of the narrations when I was a player in Kyou and the narrator (Shadowcaller) ended up being bogged down with schoolwork. He just ended the day or night phase, told me who died and their role, and I wrote the flavor text.

Re: WW Central VI: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
Also some players are kind enough to write their own death scenes when being lynched or one of the wolves may write a kill scene.
Though being a narrator can be more work, it's generally easier once you get the hang of it.
Also, co-narrators, yes. Co-narrators for the win.

To me metagaming is using knowledge from outside the specific game you're in. Things like "Murska is a scheming backstabber, so don't trust him ever" or "Moon Called always autolynches so no one would recruit her".

Or lynching/killing people because of their previous activities in other games/reputation. That's a personal pet peeve of mine that doesn't seem as popular as I'd like it to be, though. Brought it up before and it got shrugged off.

Re: WW Central VI: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
Interesting discussion, metagaming to me is using stuff like typing errors in role pm's to find the real villagers ( but that would never happen ).
I mention it because when I first started here, I was warned that I could roleplay but shouldn't complain about others talking about the games itself (spreadsheets, counting, chats). GardenP is saying the exact opposite.
No problem for me, just a change.
Actually I'm joining the game. But then I have to stop joining. Really. I have no willpower

Mafia Update -
- After - YOW finishes
- WW Classic starts and goes through a few days of play - after the first three or four days and the first round of autolynches;
- AFTER selecting 1 or 2 co-narrators (mandatory)
Then I'll put up the recruiting for the next Mafia game.
Anyone have the time and inclination to co-narrate?

@Darkcomet: No one really cares because for the most part it doesn't happen. Even to you. You just happen to think it does. Just because the lynch could have been due to another game it could also be for any number of other reasons and usually is. Unless it's Shadow. Then he gets killed because he is still alive.

Re: WW Central VI: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
For me, roleplaying is playing as your character in the game, playing or 'gaming' is playing according to the rules of the game to win(such as outing yourself as the baner to create a network or claiming to be the seer as a wolf to find villager powerroles) and metagaming is playing according to the other players to win(such as looking at when people were online to see if they could be the wolf who missed a nightkill or noting that some people tend to target the wolf nightkills in a similar pattern than they've been targeted in this game).
I don't have a problem with any of these.

Re: WW Central VI: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
Actually, by definition, metagaming is using out of game knowledge. Such as, player that and that did thing such and such in game then and then (yeah, I know, but I won't be using any names), therefore, his role is most likely...
I have no problems with metagaming and actually use it quite a lot. It has proven itself as quite a reliable tactic and it has uses. Nobody plays metagame free, much as they would like it. Some people just use it to smaller extent than others.
Not to be confused with vindicative nature of the players. The two are hardly the same, even if the later can prove useful too. But sometimes you just think people are out to get you. It's not (always) true. Sometimes they are just metagaming.Adrie, half elven bard. Drawing by Vulion, avatar by CheesePirate. Colored version by Callos_DeTerran.
